Title: A day without immigrants.
Post by: Little Joe on February 17, 2017, 05:51:12 AM
I wonder who is organizing this?

http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/16/us/day-without-immigrants-vignettes/

I could get behind a similar "A day without ILLEGAL immigrants".

I am sure that many illegal immigrants are basically good people, and I'm sure that many of them really do make valuable contributions to our economy.  But the press and Democrats (I know, that is redundant) need to stop referring to all immigrants when they mean illegal immigrants.  If we took half the resources we spend on keeping people out and put that towards a more robust legal immigration process, I think we could all benefit.  I don't care if immigrants take American jobs.  If we work together on this, we can make many many more jobs for everyone.  I'd love to see a few more taco joints in my town.   ;)

Just think, if places like California weren't spending so much money support illegal immigrants they might actually have enough money to fix infrastructure like failing dams and such.

Many people are quite dishonest when they don't acknowledge the difference between immigrants and those here illegally.

What a dumb article, clearly aimed at discrediting immigration enforcement. I challenge the left to go back and find where Trump, or any Republican, has said they don't want immigrants. Can you imagine what would happen if we tried a #DayWithoutPolice or something similar?

And they don't acknowledge the difference between the 19th and early 20th centuries when we needed population to build a country and people had to go through an intake process and have sponsors, and today, when we obviously don't.

It is intentional and a form of fake news.

Exactly.  Pure propaganda designed to indoctrinate the low information types.  Illegal Aliens are NOT IMMIGRANTS!!!

Just read that in Tennessee, 18 immigrants who stayed out of work to protest have been fired. Guess it is a harsh lesson, but very appropriate.

If someone is paying you to work then work.  Bringing politics into the office a Bad Idea (tm).

I'd love to see a "Day without Police"!
But not in my town.  I like having cops around.

How about a "day without small businesses" or a "day without payrolls".

Exactly. Except that anything along those lines won't happen because the people who would lead it (police, small business owners, etc.) understand the effects of doing something like that.

I hope Trump gets rid of at least 50% of the Federal work force.  To much redundancy, too much patronage, and too much waste that we pay for!

How about a day without stupidity.     Immigrant does not equal illegal immigrant.

The great triumvirate of the U.S. downfall, the Media, Education, and Government want a dependent, entitled population they can control.  Until Trump, they have been succeeding.  MAGA.

Bingo. I work closely with, oh my God, a european muslim immigrant. She and her husband came to the USA almost 20 years ago from a war torn eastern european country. They took naturalization classes, passed the tests, did things the right way, and are US citizens. They both work hard, own a home, raise their children, and live the American dream. She runs a $250k machine that is easy to damage, and does a great job of it.

I'm not against immigrants, just the illegal ones that don't care to do the right thing, go through the process, and become citizens.
