At least it seemed so to me.
-
Very well done.
-
At first I was ridiculing the left side of the isle for their stoic restraint. But then, even they found it within themselves to applaud many of Trumps statments.
It was a fabulous speech. It reminded me of both JFK and RR.
I am sure CNN and others will find parts to rip him on. But I hope I am wrong and they join the chorus of applause that I witnessed tonight.

It feels good actually to have a president. Great, great speech. You have to wonder why Dems stay seated and do not clap even on the most basic statements that most would take for granted ... supporting the Constitution, enhancing education, even securing the borders.
Grim trolls. I declare Democrats irrelevant!
-
And what's with the Dems rushing out at the end? They were probably pissed that he told them the time for trivial fights is over.
Well, it is!
Loved the total smackdown when he reminded us we were told we could keep our doctor and keep our plans.
This is a bitch-slappin' president! :)

It was quite refreshing to have a SOTU that didn't pander to stupidity and self aggrandizement. That alone was worth the price of admission.
Liked the long standing O for the widow of the Special Forces KIA.
HATED the stupid look of ignorance and egotistical bullshit coming from the democrats as they showcased their irrelevance and idiocy. When the president spoke of shared responsibility I thought Nancy Pelosi was going to fall out of her chair. There were two democrat parasites - I mean members fo congress - that never stood and never applauded, except for the widow, that I saw.
A pox on them both.
Several of the disloyal opposition took Trump's comments about out of control violence in Chicago as some kind of personal affront, I noticed and the cat calling that came when Trump announced the new initiative on crimes committed by illegals against American citizens was a special kind of stupid that only progressives seem to be capable of engaging in.
I was glad the white dresses ran for the doors as the speech ended. That way we didn't have to see that pig, Pelosi trying to seem relevant. Her gaggle of nags are welcome to run out anytime. it makes the entire chamber much more honest and full of integrity.

Except he let Obama of the hook by saying they "failed to keep their promises"
Bullshit, they knew it was a lie when they said it.
-
"My job is not to represent the world. My job is to represent America."
Dems sit, don't clap.
How do they think that makes Americans feel about them?

Deplorables.

True.

They don't care how Americans feel about them. They only care about how the progressive, statist/Globalists that fund them feel about them. Well look at what happened to Hillary's funding when she lost the election, and became irrelevant.

One of the commentators said trump became president with that speech. I agree. It was truly a great speech and it made me proud to be a deplorable.

Deplorable did take on a bit of dignity last night. I agree.

Van Jones, an admitted far left, communist even said that as did Chris Wallace of Fox News who tends to lean liberal/progressive like his Dad, Mike Wallace.

I think Van Jones might be the first to figure out that they have a problem. He also said that Trump became the president last night
And he was recently on the record calling out the universities for their free speech hypocrisy and snowflakism.
That doesn't mean he has turned around, but he is one of the few that is rational enough to recognize that President Trump is the real deal.

Watched the speech last night after getting home following a fantastic aerobatic warm-up flight in the Yak and agree, it was a great speech and any fair-minded person will recognize whatt happened last night was an epic beatdown on the status quo. Every time he he looked/pointed at the Dem side of the chamber 'time for petty fights is over', 'time to come together' I literally LOL'd - it was fantastic
The Dem's looked all sadface because they realize what Trump has done....Donald J. Trump has executed Dr' Evil's plan, and it is brilliant.
Last night you witnessed President Trump commit grand larceny in political terms, he flat ass stole their mojo.
'Gimp

I think he is giving a wake up call to the Democrats (his party) that they are not speaking to their core constituents, but only speaking to the Social Justice Warriors, and radical activists on fringe identity politics, man made climate change, and Muslim appeasement. People need to eat, have homes, and jobs to support their families. Their wages need to keep pace with inflation, or better inflation. The economy needs to GROW in order to accomplish that. Under Obama we had very ANEMIC GDP growth. That needs to change or we will fail as a society, and country.

Heh heh... "Meatloaf, Jr."

I didn't see the speech but I've caught some highlights and read a few articles and it sounded like a good speech. I'm not sure if he said it in the speech, but there are some articles today stating that he may be open to a "Gang of 8" style immigration bill. I know he did talk about immigration reform in the speech but I don't know how far he took it. If that's the case, I don't support it.
I was glad to see him honor the fallen Navy SEAL and his wife. It was a classy move.

I am sincerely hoping that Al Franken runs with Jill Stein in 2020.
FRANKEN/STEIN

Why aren't any of our liberal friends commenting on this speech? I really wanted to hear their take on it before I have to entertain my liberal in-laws this weekend.

Maybe jbird and kristen are having a pow wow about it.

Trump talked about so many things that Demorcrats love yet they chose to act like petulant children.

I have so much turmoil at work that I didn't have a chance to watch it.

Sorry to hear that.

I am sorry to hear that, too. When you do see the speech, I think you will find it quite soothing.

I too am sorry you didn't have a chance to watch it.
I hope the turmoil at work is due to being very busy. But get ready for a lot more of that. America is on the way back!!!
Even the very liberal paper here said it was a very good speech, but of course they had to qualify that by saying the expectations were so low.
