PILOT SPIN

Tuesday, an experimental aircraft crashed near the KLWM airport. The aircraft hit a condo complex less than a mile off the approach end of runway 14. Unfortunately, the pilot was killed. Fortunately, no one on the ground was injured.
And, of course, people in the area are complaining about the where the airplanes fly and how low they are.
Quote from the Boston Herald: "They do fly too low, I'm always looking up"
People build condos near an airport, people buy condos near an airport, and then they complain about the flight path of the airplanes that "fly too low"? How the heck do these geniuses think aircraft land at airports?
Good grief.

I used to take my Cherokee, and then my Tiger to an avionics shop at a non-towered field close to where I was based. One day I flew in for some work to be done, and noticed a housing development was being built right on top of the airport. I talked to the airport manager, and he indicated they put the sales office/model all the way in the back, as far away from the airport as possible. I thought that was interesting, and I assume it was to minimize the impact of the aircraft noise, etc from prospective buyers who will then complain AFTER they move in! Stupidity rules.

I once looked at new home construction going up near Miramar. There was about a 4-page disclosure notice about aircraft noise. No one would have bought into that neighborhood unawares.

If it's the place I'm thinking of, it's practically dead there now.

N10, Perkiomen Valley? The avionics shop moved, but I forget where. West Chester maybe?

Yes, but Penn Avionics is gone now; they had moved to Brandywine but, following the demise of Peter, closed up shop.

Hmmmm. Do tell. :)
I think they even worked on my old NARCO radios/VOR in the Tiger before I finally replaced them. NARCO.......(Not A Radio Company). Of course, they were PA based back in the day.

There was published news media about it. No point digging up the guy's corpse to kick it.

Hmmm. I was being a bit flippant. All I knew was that it seemed like a good avionics shop. No ideas why it closed, nor the circumstances. Didn't realize you were local.
