We shouldn't fly the American flag, or wear red, white, and blue because it may offend the illegal aliens here going to free (for them) public school. Also, the flag represents colonialism, abuse, and exploitation of people of color world wide. It is similar to the Confederate flag, and should be banned in a similar fashion.
Yes, flags, colors, and symbols can hurt us. Maybe not physically, but psychologically, and mentally, and can create an environment of hate, and feeling of oppression. If it makes one person feel offended, then it should be banned!

I tend to agree with that. I'm not sure why, but it irks me when people use the flag for clothing or other purposes, other than as a "flag". I suspect I am in a minority here.
I also disagree with allowing the desecration of the flag. I guess that is another unpopular position.
However, either it is a rule for everyone, or not. It can't be used against certain groups.
Other than that:

This is EXACTLY what I was saying about Snopes (http://www.pilotspin.com/index.php?topic=2003.msg35589#msg35589). In order to avoid simply saying 'Yes, its true, students were forced to apologize for wearing patriotic colors (red, white, blue) when immigrants claimed to be offended by it,' Snopes intentionally muddies the issue in order to give a verdict of "Mixture".
From Snopes: "WHAT'S FALSE The students opted to issue an apology without being forced or asked to do so"
Here's a hint for Snopes, "free" people being forced to apologize for their patriotism by the (government-run) school administration makes the situation worse, not better. Snopes seems to think that if the students had come to apologize for showing some patriotism on their own, they would have been 'more enlightened'.

The liberal far left has shot their wad and the dust is settling against them, which is why they are so unhinged.
After decades of having everything their own way, the concept of people ignoring them is so repulsive that the only response they can find it in themselves to offer is more of the same and uglier than that.
The truth is that they over reached and the pendulum has started back the other way, much to the horror of snowflakes and permanently entitled.

I have written off colleges, and universities, and our public, and most of our private schools, K-12, and I come from a family of educators. The pranks we used to pull in college, and things like rating girls in the quad ala Olympic scoring cards, while drinking beer publicly on campus would get us all arrested, expelled, excommunicated, fined, taxed, etc. No more double secret probation. Straight to the slammer.
