Didn't see the Maddow show, but from what is out there on the net, does sound like she made a big buildup of a breathtaking scoop when the reality was the President made a lot of money and paid a lot in taxes - big whoop!

They had Fox News on in the break room at work today, and when I went in there to get something, they had Geraldo Rivera (Gerry Rivers) on and he actually compared Maddow to when he did the failed Al Capone's Vault show. :)

I'm not a big Hannity fan, and I no longer even have Fox News on my cable since I switched providers, and down sized. However, Hannity tells you he is a Conservative Opinion talk show host. He doesn't pretend it is "news". Also, he always has a representative of the opposing (liberal/progressive/Democrat) side to espouse their views. Therefore, you at least get both sides of the argument even though he agrees with the conservative side.

I think he's not, which is why I believe he talks over his guests when he doesn't agree with their statements. He also admits he's a partisan.
Conversely, every leftist I know thinks that she's brilliant. I remember Scott Migaldi making that very case on POA.

So, take 2005 as an example. Paying at a rate of 25%, the President paid $38,000,000 of his income to the federal government. Can you please cite your statement "a little less than most of us"? Are you trying to say you and others paid more individually ($38 million) than Trump did? Or are you playing the liberal game of what percentage he paid versus actual dollar amount?
The whole thing seems like a non-event, certainly not worthy of a campaign issue.

Of course he's not required to do so by law, I never intimated that he was. It is a long-standing tradition that dates back decades though. And it became a rather potent campaign issue. For what? This latest disclosure seems like more of a non-event than anything. Again, either something really damning happened recently or he's really inept. The latter wouldn't surprise me any given some of his more memorable shenanigans, I honestly hope its the case. Because if something is damning enough to be worth all that trouble, it would have to be really bad.

If you are paying a greater percentage of income tax than Trump then something is askew:
At 25% effective combined corporate and personal income tax rate, Trump was in the 96 to 99% percentile. Meaning only 1 to 4% were paying a higher income tax rate. If that was his personal rate then he was paying at a rate greater than 99% of people. You really have no understanding of wealth or business. If I were in Trump's shoes I would be damned if I would make my tax forms available.
First, you have the uneducated masses (you included) that couldn't begin to even read or understand what those forms were or how they apply. It would provide unending fodder for the MSM to twist and misrepresent and fuel even more inane "scandals" for them to regurgitate daily.
Second, one day Mr. Trump may return to the private sector and resume his business. His business deals in finance of mega million dollar real estates and being able to raise funds in these dealings. Putting out personal tax information would be about the stupidest thing he could possibly do.
And it became a rather potent campaign issue.

I guess it was in the 1960's that it became chic for the left/Dems to self loathe, and hate America. To them, the Ugly American, one that is colonial, abusive, selfish, and exploitive became the identity of all America. They saw none of the good that America does both within, and outside our borders. That is still the mindset today, and was the genesis of Obama's apology tour, and his statement that we are no more exceptional that other countries.
What Obama doesn't understand, is that we as individuals may not be better than other nations, but that the CONCEPT of our nation is exceptional. One where freedoms, and liberties are a Natural Right, but upheld by the Constitution. We were the first, and really only country that was founded on these principals, and that is what the left/Democrats hate. They hate that anyone but them has freedom, and liberty.
