Title: Let me preface by saying - I am not a believer
Post by: invflatspin on October 24, 2017, 11:34:57 AM
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/10/24/georgetown-student-group-targeted-as-hate-group-for-catholic-beliefs-could-be-sanctioned.html

I wonder if these other protesting groups understand the word 'irony'?

Again, I don't care for any religion, I'm of the opinion that all of them are some kind of mind control or cult. Having said that, far be it for me or anyone else who disagrees with an established faith to interfere in public discourse - in of all locations,, a college campus.

Strikes me as rather not just Orwellian, but also framed as a bit medieval, something this particular group under fire should  understand so very well(having practiced it to great effect in the dark ages).

I also have to wonder if there is an islamic council or cult, or group on campus, and based on the islamic standards of morality, if this protest group has also targeted them for 'hate' speech? eh?

Fascinating. If you choose to discuss, I would appreciate it if you would identify your belief system, although not required, it helps for context. thx

While I do have a vague belief in a "God", I am not real sure what that even means.

And while I value and embrace the "Judaeo/Christian" ethics and morals, I believe that all of the structured religions are man-made with the goal of filling a sociological need rather than facing the fact that nobody really knows what is on God's mind or what his plan is.

I have synthesized or hypothesized that all or most all religions are created as a crutch to understanding human behavior in large groups. As a cliche, the words 'group-think' sort of strike me as the fundament of all religious followers. Labels are then conveniently applied to the various forms of 'group-think' to insure there is little or no cross purpose involved. christian, jew, muslim, buddhist, etc all have their themes, and rituals to identify the policy of the particular grouping. There can be overlap(monotheism) among them, but what's more important to the group-thinkers is not their similarities but what sets them apart. It is this disingenuous leadership position which sets man among man, and where we are now with this ridiculous claim of 'hate speech' by another sect of group-thinkers.

Further, the attempt to leverage the power and control of the university to stifle and reduce the influence of one set of group-think over another set - just leaves me gobsmacked.

My belief system is a liberal, with a lower case L.  That's all that is necessary here.  Inconsequential, I was raised Catholic and have also attended Lutheran, Baptist, Methodist, Mormon and Jewish services.

The core argument against DOMA was that no individuals had the right to force their beliefs onto others.  That is correct and it is the reason DOMA was ended.  How quickly the left forgets or fails to learn.

The students in the student government are being prejudiced and they don't even realize it.  They are now the oppressors, they are the bigots.  They are the ones trying to force their beliefs down everyone else's throats.

God help us in about 10-20 years when they get out of school and into positions of power still believing this is how it should be.

To show how old I am, the whole thing reminds me of an old Star Trek episode, with the two aliens, painted up half black and half white. One of them, in defense of his superior position turns to Kirk and says: "But Captain! Can't you see? -- He is half black on the LEFT side!!!" I wonder how many takes they had to get through that with a straight face. Frank Gorshin(Riddler) starred as one of the painted aliens.

"Dean President Smith! Can't you see? They are in favor of conventional morality!!!

Obviously that episode was written to point out the absurdity of pigment induced prejudice.

The utter ignorance of the modern liberal is so objectionable that many simply shake their heads knowing those insane, pathetic, assholes will never amount to anything productive and become lifelong parasites, living off the people they hate with such idiocy.

Frederica Wilson (the clown who dresses like a circus clown, or hooker in an ugly cowboy hat) is just the newest progressive moron to babble their ya to the top of the pigsty. Sheila Jackson Lee and Maxine Waters are two more, along with DiFi, Litzy Pocahontas Warren and Hilary Clinton join a cast of thousands that live in a world where people demand we take their insanity and insane fantasies seriously.

For universities to label Catholics as racists and a hate group has become so common n place that it is hard to work up much of a lather, and tomorrow the lying scum of the left will f8nd others to attack just as dishonestly.
