Could rational thought have returned to the Pentagon?

I know a former Warthog driver...he loves that plane.
-
I love the A-10. A plane designed the way a plane should be designed. Designed around delivering the weapon (the cannon) and protecting the pilot.
It's not sexy, it just gets the job done.
However, ISIS has a lot of armor?

ISIS has most of the stuff we left in Iraq.

The gun will cut through non-armour too...
The plane is the peak of close air support...can get into tight areas, and put ordinance on target with minimal collateral damage. Makes it an ideal platform.

and non-armor as well, but it is arguably overkill for soft targets.

But, you can put a gun round into a target that you can't put a 500 lb bomb or missile into, because the damage radius is so much smaller.
The AC-130s have been a great platform as well.

well, the round coming out of the A-10 gun is more likely to go THROUGH the soft target rather than just into it.

Are there a lot of people who have lived through a 33mm round that passed through them instead of stopped in them?

They probably disappear into a cloud of pink mist.
