The winner has been decreed:

Gov. John Kasich of Ohio, though a distinct underdog, is the only plausible choice for Republicans tired of the extremism and inexperience on display in this race.

2 nights ago on MSNBC an "expert" stated that Bush will be the eventual nominee.
The Dems are hoping and praying for Jeb to get the nomination, so much so they are going delusional.

You actually read that rag.

I read it for the funny pages...i.e. the editorials.

Did you know his dad was a mailman? ::)

He must have seen a leaked script.

Not a bad analysis of the situation and can't say I disagree with any of it, but the basics of politics is, you need to have support of your constituents to get elected. The conservatives clearly don't want to support Kasich. Probably because he is running a reasonable race without inflammatory rhetoric and outrageous claims.
Sorry, the liberals at the NY Times don't get to pick the Republican candidate, but at the same time it is too bad that Kasich gets so little support.

There's a reason Kasich doesn't get support, and it is NOT because he doesn't engage in "inflammatory rhetoric and outrageous claims."

OK. Now for the second part of your post. What are those reasons?

RINO
-
Given his gubernatorial record, Kasich is anything but a RINO.
Sent from my iPhone . Squirrel!!
-
He's just another career politician, ready to fall in line with whatever the GOP "elites" dictate for him to do.
-
RINO
Shouldn't this dumb acronym be CINO and not RINO? After all, historically Republicans have often negotiated and compromised with the other side to get things done and accommodate their constituents. In addition, if the majority of Republicans are establishment and not to your liking because they are not conservative enough, shouldn't you be saying they are Conservative In Name Only? Obviously they are Republican, it's just you don't really want Republican politicians anymore, you want hard core conservatives to be your politicians.
So, what are the egregious things that Kasich has done to shame the Republican party?

Rule of Law.
Make the Constitution Matter.
Stop Social Engineering to right perceived past wrongs.
Stop raising tax rates, levying fees, and making government a for profit entity for the elite, and workers.
Enforce our borders.
Provide for our AMERICAN DEFENSE.

Difference of opinion I guess. I find his views on immigration very pragmatic and much like my own.
-
I will never forget Kascich declaring, at the GOP debate, "Think of the CHILDREN, People!"
He lost me right there. I thought I was watching Bill Clinton.

I like Kasich, as I think he's done a good job as Ohio Governor, and I use to hear his radio show, and watch him on Fox. However, he has said some very liberal things as I think he is trying to position himself as a "moderate". Dumb.

Yeah, too bad more people can't connect the dots...

I love how..simply wanting a balanced budget, debt paid down, less government enchroachment on our lives ( hello gas cans ) is now considered "hard core conservative". I guess in the context of Hil or Bern...that's a fair enough categorization.

Oh yeah Bart is here!!!

Oh brother. Is that all conservatives want? Just those few simple things?
No, conservatives have a strong opinion on everything and the "hard core" ones refuse to compromise on any of those opinions.
