Title: PoA rules of conduct
Post by: Rush on November 02, 2018, 06:11:59 PM
They added this:

"Political/Religious discussions are prohibited. This includes any language or discussion deemed to be political or politically charged in nature as well as any religious speech or text. This language is exceedingly destructive to the cohesion of the community and as such will not be tolerated."

Any religious speech or text?

What if I want to post this:

“Radiate boundless love towards the entire world…”

This is a genuine quote from the Buddhist scriptures. Do you think if I make that my sig line they will ban me?

They've gone off the rails with moderation.

The MC there needs an enema in the worse way.

Didn't Aunt Peggy have a sig sort of like that? “The sanctimoniousness in me bows to the ignorance in you” or some such?

The language of politics and religion is “exceedingly destructive to the cohesion of the community?”

Wow. Two of the most important and interesting subjects ever. I guess PilotSpin is shot to incohesive hell evidently.

Like almost all liberals, the mismanagement council is made up of ignorant bigots.

Hmmm.  Trying to decide between a few new .sig quotes. I will leave it to you to guess where they originate.

- Perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

- Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs

- Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.

All good! I wonder if such awful language would get you banned forever?

Or try “A wise man’s heart is at his right hand, but a fool’s heart at his left.”  :)

This thread makes me feel exceedingly destructed.

Many of the familiar posters and contributors have left.  There use to be good aviation discussions and opinions from some very experienced individuals.  Now it’s just one childish post after another and aviation subjects have gone juvenile.

I had a boss once who told me, “Conflict makes the world go around.” He said when you try to eliminate conflict, you get atrophy and death. I often think about that the more we get restricted in our daily lives about what we can or can’t talk about.  Friendships literally die or just decay when your conversations are constricted in narrow paths.

The principle also is illustrated by President Trump’s tireless pursuit of excellence for America while giving not one shit about his critics. I am delighted to have an alpha male in that office who is unabashedly pro-American and completely, completely unconcerned with political correctness.

A psychologist once told me, “The organism wants to be healthy.” I think that drive, or pull, toward healthiness brought us here to PilotSpin, and I think it’s what is making tens of thousands of Democrats walk away from the stench and decay and atrophy of their party.

I think if they were to "demoderate" that forum at first it would be a free for all, then it would settle down again.  The only real moderation required are for the trolls and shit stirrers, and that could be handled simple enough.

But it's obvious some on the MC have a political agenda and stifling speech is just one of their tools.

I have no interest in the PoA rules, but this comment piqued my interest. I don't know where yo met the psychologist, or in what capacity, but this quote was almost word for word out of my dissertation. Strange to see it again after so long dormant. In my work, there was an examination of the efficiency of befriending others around you, rather than work at odds, and through anger and frustration. That the human condition was naturally tilted toward friendship, cooperation, and beneficial gain for both when we work toward common goals. Then, stealing unashamedly from Dante Alighieri in the Inferno, I discussed the various pitfalls of modern society where there were all the vestibules, and a few of the circles of hell as represented by the inefficiency of greed, lust, corruption, etc. My advisor made me change some of the rhetoric, so I came up with: "The human condition in any society has goals, just as the individual. A group of people directed, and lead by a natural order of the most qualified, will always achieve a more healthy organic culture, provided the leadership is invested in the gain for the society, and not for individual aggrandizement, or put simply - 'power for power sake'".  Then I went on to list some of the mistakes in previous societies including National Socialist Germany of course, and of the time the regime of Pol Pot, and then went back to Caligula, and got some shots in at the various Ptolemies, etc.

Who could have predicted such a correction in the US society by Trump back in 1984-ish? The 80s were themed by all that Dante found in his travels with Virgil, greed, lust, corruption, fraud, etc. And Trump  of the 80s was in the middle of it all! Fascinating times we live in. As mentioned before, during the runup to the election in 2016 I was actively seeking living outside the US in various warm tropical locations. Now, to steal once more from Dante, we have almost completely reversed the warning given back then; Abandon all hope; ye who enter here' on the vestibule prior to entering hell. Not that we are all in heaven, but I will take the US society of 2018 over pretty much any time in my past, except a few years under early Reagan which were pretty good. I can't help but be concerned that it's not going to last, even though we are seeing the efficiency in our lives for anyone willing to do an independent assessment of where our nation is headed. (this does not mean I won't still be critical of Trump when justified)

Indeed! Indeed! Perhaps the natural drive toward health will cause more and more people of all persuasion to do the things that will bring it to pass. I’ll emphasize again that I believe truth is known to us; what keeps us skewed and off course is the attempt to avoid it.

Becky, this is spot on about Trump, and why he is so beloved by many of us. (And I was most certainly not at first.)

Just this week Tucker Carlson had a two-part interview with Adam Corolla and Dennis Prager. Here is part 2, and they are speaking to your point right out of the box.

I love Tucker. He was on Dave Rubin’s show the other day. Tucker is more invigorating than black coffee! He has especially good rapport with Mark Steyn.

Mark Steyn is one of my favorite commentators.  I really like when he sits in for Rush.
