The Poll is exactly what he said would happen.

This poll is proof that the current public education system has been an utter and complete failure in producing free-thinking, critical thinking, and historically literate students.
We should eliminate this waste of treasure, open up one-room school houses to teach the three R’s, and plan for a massive pipeline infrastructure, because we will be raising a generation of ditch diggers.

The poll shows that those of my generation that thought Communism was a cool thing because there would be a "chicken in every pot" went and became teachers and professors and have worked hard since then to indoctrinate everyone to their philosophy. Very sad, might not be a chance to stop it at this point.

Here is a different perspective on the same poll, which came to my email this morning -
Among millennial and Gen Z respondents—roughly, adults ages 18 to 38—a full 78.9 percent agreed that "government should allow private insurance." And 67.1 percent agreed that high earnings are a "result of free enterprise." (Among poll respondents of all ages, these numbers were slightly higher: 71.2 percent and 86.5 percent, respectively.)
[snip]
So, once again, a poll heralded as a big socialist spike actually shows more ambiguous results, with strong support both for "socialism" and for private enterprise.

I can't find the actual poll results anywhere so it's awfully tough to dive into this. Further, I'd like to know how these metrics compare with the same survey done previously, to help understand whether this is a true sea change in attitudes or not.
I'm not especially concerned, frankly. Lots of kids love socialism. And then they grow up. Gen Z-ers are 19 - 24 years old at this moment. And we should keep in mind that this is a survey, and comes with all of the weaknesses thereof and the requisite warnings about drawing broad conclusions on complex issues.

You do make some good points,
but I am still concerned. Especially when we have self professed socialists both in office, and considering a run for the oval office.
I have also seen way too many "news" articles with titles like "10 myths about socialism" where they try to dispel the fear and gloss over all the failures. I have seen quite a few of those types of articles lately.
I'm pretty sure that the socialist movement in this country will burn itself out in a few years, but I thought the same thing about the global warming alarmists too.

Actually, the chicken meets pot promise was made by Republican presidential candidate Herbert Hoover.
The Great Depression had other plans.

We've had socialists in Congress before. I guarantee you the vast majority of survey respondents couldn't even define "socialism". And that includes those who are against it. The ones who are for it likely just know they like some of the socialist-esque policies interwoven into our form of capitalism.
But now that I type that out, perhaps there is a danger in that ignorance.

Just the fact that the majority want government provided healthcare AND want private insurance demonstrates that they haven’t thought these questions through very well.
-
Education, the Media, Social Media and Tech are all for this crap and have indoctrinated the younger people. Now equal outcomes, not equal opportunity is the new "Fairness". Capitalism is bad, and greedy. They bought into the big lie, while wearing Che Guevara shirts. A murdering thug who they worship as some Commie God.
All you need to do is point to Venezuela to see what socialism does.

That sums up my fear. Ignorance.
If you don't learn from history, you are doomed to repeat it.

What they failed to realize is that a “chicken in every pot” is the maximum extent of the promise. Nothing past a chicken is assured.
Certainly not the ability to fly airplanes for fun.

Eating meat and burning fossil fuels. Can't have that.

Well, it wasn't a promise of free stuff. It was a pledge of prosperity. People were supposed to be able to afford those things, and more.
But a little event, known as the Great Depression, sort of got in the way.

I agree. Today, Government just promises you they will "give" you that stuff. The price you pay is your FREEDOM.

Well, as you liberals are so fond of saying; "Things evolve". Back then a (single) car in EVERY garage would have been almost unimaginable. Today, my wife and I need a 3-car garage for the two of us.

You don't actually keep cars in your garage, do you? I have no room for cars in my 2-"car" garage!

Two. A pickup and a sedan.
Also: Garden tools, power mower, two leaf blowers, generator, work bench, power hand tools, drill press, radial arm saw, bicycles, scrap lumber, two standing tool chests and a bunch of other junk. I really need a 4-car garage for my two cars.

True.
I need a two car garage and maybe a third one soon. Then I need a 2 car garage for all the extra stuff like lawnmowers and tools. Then I'd really, really like a third 2 car garage - heated and air conditioned - to build in.

Fortunately, I have a fairly large 2-car garage. I have turned down buying several houses that my wife loved because it had one of those "modern" 19x19 garages. That isn't even deep enough to call a good one-car garage, unless you have compact cars. Mine is about 25x26 and I feel I need at least 3 more feet deep and 5 more feet wide (minimum).

I had to cut the tongue off my trailer and install a swing-away kit just to fit the boat in the garage. What in the hell is this world coming to?

You Floridians don’t even have garages, do you?

Boats, and most outdoor equipment are considered "manly". This world is most definitely becoming "pussified".
-
You Floridians don’t even have garages, do you?
Well, a lot of Floridians do live in trailers. But the rest of us have garages. Have you ever seen what happens to power tools if left outside in Florida?

I recall a lot of carports abound in the south. But I get it about the equipment.
That must be why, when I lived in Charlotte, a few people died while trying to keep warm by using their charcoal grill inside the house. Can’t let those Weber’s get stolen.

Apparently I have a snowflake garage at only 19 feet in depth. >:(

Now I didn't say you had a "snowflake" garage. I said you have a "modern" garage, which even you said you couldn't fit your cars in it.

I'm kidding. I thought it was funny. Wish I had a few more feet frankly.

I knew you were kidding. I just wanted to let you know I don't think of you as a snowflake.

Thank the American Federation of Teachers and the National Education Association who are solely controlled by the Democrats. They run school districts now. Nobody seems to care.
