WASHINGTON, March 30 (Reuters) - The United States is cutting off aid to El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, known collectively as the "Northern Triangle," the State Department said on Saturday, a day after President Donald Trump blasted the Central American countries for sending migrants to the United States.
"We are carrying out the President's direction and ending FY (fiscal year) 2017 and FY 2018 foreign assistance programs for the Northern Triangle," a State Department spokesperson said in a statement. The department declined to provide further details.
The State Department said it would "engage Congress in the process," an apparent acknowledgement that it will need lawmakers' approval to end the funding.

Well, if it was money that Congress directed the State Dept to spend, he might not have the authority. Or, it was money merely allocated, then there is room. I don’t know the P.L. that authorizes this money so I don’t know.
On a slightly related note, I am not in a position to look that up this morning because I’m flying cattle class. I am all for the guy in the middle seat getting the arm rest, but his elbow room stops well short of my ribs.

Did Congress exert its authority when Obama shipped $1.8 BILLION in hard currency on pallets to Iran?
Nope. Congress had no say in the matter.

Obama bribed Iran to take the nuclear deal that was far to permissive anyway. Glad Trump cancelled it.

If it was “their money”, then why didn’t BHO just ask Congress, then wire transfer the funds? Why did BHO have it flown in under cover of darkness, and have it in various currencies?
Iran is a major sponsor of terrorism. Doesn’t take much imagination of why they wanted the various currencies.
But most important, why did BHO give them the funds?

Obama was desperate to get any type of deal done with Iran even if it was BAD for the U.S. which it was. Not to mention putting the rest of the world more at risk.
Of course the Democrats and the Media accused Trump of "caving in" to North Korea and he didn't give them ANYTHING. Such a double standard, and such hypocrisy.
I was talking to a friend of mine learner and he brought this up. Speaking of hypocrisy, can you imagine if the late night talk shows or SNL would criticize Hillary, or any Democrats like they do Trump? The uproar would be ridiculous.

The way it was done was quite shady but making it sound like we just took money from the treasury is not correct.
