Get That Man A Tie (https://pjmedia.com/claudiarosett/could-someone-please-send-president-obama-a-necktie/1/)
"In such matters as the death of a great man, respect matters -- especially from our political leaders. Dignity and sober ceremony are called for. These are not trivial requirements, nor are they mere accessories to the event. They are part of the bedrock of enlightened civilization. Surely when America's president appeared before the TV cameras Saturday evening to deliver his scripted remarks about the death of a Supreme Court Justice, the great Antonin Scalia, Obama should have taken the trouble to dress at least as well as your average law student applying for a summer job."

RACIST!
-
In addition, he barely said anything about Scalia, the man. He got right into politics, and his nominations. Did you see the expression on his face? Utter contempt.
-
I would have been shocked about this 7 years ago. Today, it's par for the course. His disrespect and contempt toward things that aren't in sync with progressive ideology is on full display every time he opens his mouth.
Ronald Reagan never entered the Oval Office on a work day without a coat and tie. The only known exceptions were when he gave his weekly radio address on Saturdays, and his explanation was that he didn't want the rest of the staff to feel that they had to dress up on Saturdays.
Obama puts his feet up on the Resolute Desk.

He didn't come across as being sincere during the speech, which I found disappointing. Even Hillary Clinton came across more professional and presidential with her remarks. Regardless if you agreed or disagreed with his positions, the man was highly intelligent and put a lot of thought into everything. Even Ruth Bader Ginsburg, one of the most liberal justices on the court, loved him and admired his thought process. Did she agree with him a lot? No, but she was fair minded and had a great amount of respect for the man.
This reminds me of an old episode of "The West Wing" when the President was going to nominate two people to be Supreme Court justices and they were both in the same room. They got into a heated debate while waiting at the White House and when asked, they said that was the most fun they had had in a while because it was intellectually stimulating.

That's the episode I'm referencing but there's a lot of commentary in there.

Your countdown is 12 hours off:

While I could not agree more with he sentiment of the OP, the saying dealing with lipstick and pigs keeps coming to mind when I think of Obama bringing dignity and respect to the office he holds.
-
I would prefer he find a clue rather than a tie.

Damn. That means I have to wait 12 more hours than I thought.
I guess the counter I found only counts to 12 am where yours counts to noon. I don't suppose he would be booted out at midnight would he?

I was thinking of another use for a neck tie but I digress.

I hope this isn't as outrageous as I think it is.

As with most such questions, the Constitution provides the answers:
Amendment XX
Section 1.
The terms of the President and Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th day of January, and the terms of Senators and Representatives at noon on the 3d day of January, of the years in which such terms would have ended if this article had not been ratified; and the terms of their successors shall then begin.

Out of bounds.
IMHO, of course.

I think it was being facetious.
Wattsamatter? no sense of humor?

No, because I still see some sort of minimum level of decorum and civility as desirable.
Apparently some here don't.

I used to dress daily in a suit and tie. A couple years ago I worked at a customer HQ site and thought it was appropriate to the environment. The customer staff member that accepted and oversaw my work thought I was overdressed and nit-picked on it. I figured that was the type of person she was, just nit-pick at anything and everything that wasn't to her liking. Everyone else liked and often complimented me on my dress (including her boss); I'm often asked, "How many suits do you own?" Remember the thread on PoA about the choice of Tuxedos???
Well, fast-forward to today and I sit at another customer site in blue jeans, a moderately-priced shirt, a zip up sweater jacket with diamond pattern and ruffled turned-up collar, a bold colored diamond patterned bow-tie and Bush Nunn comfort shoes.
Styles change and we must change with the times. I reluctantly changed mine as the nagging of the customer mentioned above by wearing a suit and no-tie (open collar). This was to both comply with her wishes yet spite her simultaneously. After all, It was appearing in many of the style magazines, including GQ. I then paid more attention to my cuff links choices and sometimes went with something jem-stoned or added the Tungsten and Titanium bracelet my wife bought me a couple years ago.
I think when it comes to Obama, the press reminds me of a saying about 'pleasing some of the people none of the time'. I think that applies to him.
While I think the occasion merited a tie, I don't agree with the authors rationale for doing so. A tie, still by definition is an accessory. And if by wearing the tie, he keeps attention on what he's saying versus how he's dressed, then it was IMHO the appropriate thing to do.
But at the end of the day....It's still just a frakking tie. Get over it.

but, there are certainly times when obama has done some monumental inappropriate things. (for some, the phrase "can do no wrong" certainly apply)
