Title: POA outdone by ravelry.com
Post by: Bob Noel on July 01, 2019, 05:55:41 AM
According to an op-ed piece in today's Boston Herald (Michelle Malkin), the ravelry.com operators have declared "every right-winger on the fiber arts forum who supports our commander in chief[sic] is really just a KKK domestic terrorist".  Any support of Donald Trump is banned, even projects or patterns that are deemed to support him in any way.

yet another example of how the left wing have gone over the top.

That whole First Amendment thing apparently only applies if you say what the fucking democrats want to hear.

Why do Democrats and their Progressive supporters want Hate Speech Laws?  Loretta Lynch wanted to make it illegal and jail you for anti Muslim SPEECH.  Why?  They want to silence all speech in which they disagree.  Younger people have been taught that "Hate Speech" is wrong and are willing to give up their 1A rights to stop hate speech.  They've also been taught the 2A is abut arming a government militia like the National Guard.

The concept that Government grants you rights is pervasive in our culture today, especially younger people.  They've been made to be Lemmings.

Mrs. Steingar frequents that site and was appalled by the announcement.  We don't like Trump or his allies, but he isn't a white supremacist and the mere fact that someone supports him doesn't make them so. I think this will have very negative repercussions for the website.

I liked your post for what you said, but I disagree that it will have a negative impact on their website.  Rather it will garner even more loyalty from left wing radicals.

I've never heard, nor seen that website.  It must be like Vox and Huffington Post.

Its very specialized for folks into fibre crafts.  Mrs. Steingar is a knitter, and makes amazing things.  Her latest for me is an authentic Dr. Who scarf, all 12 feet of it in the same colors as the one worn by Tom Baker in his stint as the  Doctor.  I doubt any of them have ever heard of any of the aviation websites you frequent.  Still, I'm under the impression that Ravelry is many times the size of the most vibrant Aviation website.  There are a LOT of knitters.  I suspect they're membership is more rural than urban, though I could easily be wrong.  However, even if it accurately mirrored the political environment of America, they've just alienated half their membership.

Thanks for the explanation.  Also, to me, Tom Baker was THE Dr. Who.  There are no others imho.  Now where is my Tardis?  Maybe she can knit you that next!

Tom Baker was my first Dr. Who and all others pale in comparison.  David Tennant was pretty good. Peter Capaldi was watchable but only because of Clara.

I can't disagree with either of you, though Tom Baker was pretty much a non actor and has had few substantive roles outside of Dr. Who. I've enjoyed David Tennant's performances in everything I've seen him in (his performance as the Purple Man in Jessica Jones was awesome).  I liked him a great deal as the Doctor.  I like the current incarnation a great deal as well.  All the angst about gender bending the doctor, and it was a non issue from the get go.

Headline NOT Covered By Fake News Media This Morning...

WalkAway from Ravelry: Intolerant Knitting Site Ravelry Losing Members

Meanwhile, a significant and growing number of knitters are now abandoning the site. And they’re not all Trump supporters, either. Here are some examples.
WalkAway from Ravelry: Scriptastic Yarns

The Scraptastic Yarns Podcast objects to the ban-Trump policy because of its origin. While she doesn’t doxx anyone, she names the sites from which one of the rpg.net moderators who formulated the original ban-Trump policy was banned as a troll.

Anne Witkowski, an Air Force veteran, states upfront that she doesn’t want to “act in haste, regret at leisure” but that the Ravelry problem wouldn’t let her concentrate on her puff stitches. “I do not support calling my fellow Americans white supremacists simply because their support the President of the United States. That’s it.”

Ask ESPN what all that sports network’s race-baiting over the past few years did to their viewership numbers. Right. This nonsense put them in a subscriber-losing tailspin from which the once premier sports network has yet to recover. Why? Because sports fans who ponied up the ever-increasing price of an ESPN subscription package were paying to see sports, not another clone of CNN’s stable of fake news clowns.

Maybe these websites, "news" organizations like ESPN, CNN, NBC, MSNBC, and Leftist Corporations like Nike, Levis, Google, will start to feel the pain of being extremely Far Left, and very biased.  I'm not Nike's demographic and I have never bought their crap, but I know now I never will.

The leftist progressives believe that if you can’t convert people into their ideology, then the next step is to attack and ridicule them into submission.

Democrats are now the party of hate and division.

ESPN has pretty much ruined sports for me.

Well, ESPN and the rich entitled athletes that go on strike because a few million a year for playing a game isn't enough.  I forget which Atlanta Brave it was, butI  sure do remember one of them saying he didn't care what the fans thought because the fans didn't pay his salary.  That was almost 30 years ago and I probably haven't watched 5 baseball games since then.  And even then, I was practically forced to watch.

Agreed.

I think businesses should continue to insult, mock, ridicule and diminish half of their potential customer base. I’m finding the amount of personal time I have has been increasing exponentially.

ESPN. Done except for the occasional College Gameday telecast from a college campus in the fall.

Every Sunday morning talk show including Fox News Sunday:  Done

Movies who’s actors use weapons, but advocate weapon confiscation for the rest of us?  Done

And on and on and on.

With some few exceptions I am totally done with American TV and movies. All from the left and right (NYC) coast and almost all arrogantly assuming the left is default America and the rest of us flyover country is some kind of inferior deplorable. Fuck them. I concentrate on foreign entertainment now.

I don't watch any current, or newer programming anymore, especially from Hollywood for just this reason.  I feel alienated, and like I'm the anomaly being a white, straight male.  If you're not what they define as "WOKE", you are a racist, sexist, homophobe, Nazi.  I am tired of the Left saying they are "inclusive" and "tolerant" when they are the exact OPPOSITE.

God forbid you legally own guns!  Oh, the horror.  You will certainly kill everyone around you and then be killed yourself.

I’m particularly enjoying watching Seinfeld re-runs after the evening news. Pure, happy comedy, nice to go to bed on a fun note.

I used to record and watch them all.  Then, I stopped all but Fox.  Now, I dropped that as well.  I find that I am enjoying my Sundays much more and have time for other fun things.

Seinfeld is one of the few shows I’ll watch. Well any old ones like Father Knows Best and Bewitched and so on. More recent good ones are My Name is Earl and Young Sheldon.  And I did watch Game of Thrones and Outlander. They are both just that good.

The only shows I currently watch are Seinfeld, Two and a half men, Big bang theory, and a few older shows.  All re-runs, late at night, right before bed so I don't get aggravated.  :)

I stopped patronizing abc, nbc, cbs, cnn and all of their associated channels including espn years ago.

Now I barely look at Fox because it has shifted leftward so deliberately.

If I want propaganda I will check out Pravda.

At least you know exactly how dishonest they are.
