Title: NBC/WSJ National Poll: Cruz 28, Trump 26
Post by: nddons on February 17, 2016, 05:41:37 PM
Wow.  This could easily be an outlier, or it could be the start of a trend.

Either way, watch for Trump to become even more unhinged, angry, and dangerous, like an injured dog.

I wonder if he'll sue NBC and the WSJ for issuing LIES! that he is behind Cruz in this poll.

Cruz has outperformed all polling to-date, going to be interesting to see what happens.

I would expect a Trumpertantrum and a threat to sue NBC.  Because, you know, people who are winning always sue their opponents to make them shut up.

It takes quite a while to move a Real Clear Politics Average because they use a trailing average of multiple polls.

The NBC poll is just a snapshot, albeit the most current snapshot.

Quinnipiac poll is taken daily and the numbers I posted were today's.

We'll see how it turns out. I don't put much stock into a lot of polls. I do think people are starting to see through Trump's grand standing. What really got people to like Trump was his lack of political correctness, his willingness to say whatever is on his mind. It is certainly nice, and refreshing, to hear someone say what's on their mind regardless of how it polls or what a focus group says. That being said, I want more than that from a candidate. I want to hear the substance and their positions. I don't think I'm alone in this.

Trump will continue to do well in the polls and he's certainly a political phenomenon, given that anytime he says something that would sink most campaigns, his poll numbers seem to rise. The potential exists for a brokered convention, but let's see how South Carolina goes.

I would have a very hard time voting for a brokered convention candidate, even with Scalia's passing - that is just so wrong.  And I fully expect the establishment to do just that if Trump or Cruz continue to do well.  This continues to shape up to be a really shitty election.

Quote
A Bloomberg Politics poll shows the billionaire dominating the field across virtually all demographic groups, and doing even better than Cruz among those who say they are either very conservative or evangelical Christian. On nearly every question about challenges faced by the next president, Trump scores the highest.

Again, the candidate who can attract voters from all demographics will win.  In 1980 what propelled Reagan to the White House was the "Reagan Democrats".  Today this demographic is best described as the middle class voters who feel Washington has left them behind and are tired of the establishment candidates.
