This is a question probably more suited for POA, but I'd rather ask you guys.
I'm going to dump my landline phone bill, but I have had the same number for around 30 years and I hate to give it up, even though 90% of my incoming calls are crank/spam/robo calls. I like having the number to give to stores and others that want a phone number but I don't want to give them my cell.
So which is better?
Or do you have a better suggestion?

Ensure that whatever solution you employ they are able to port your number to their service.
-
I'm also in a similar situation. We need better filtering for our home number. We still get calls (6 years and counting) for a previous holder of the number.

Are you on DSL?

Are you on DSL?
No.
Cable.
But why do you ask? I left DSL for several reasons, but I understand there is a new DSL product coming out (from AT&T; yechh) soon that can do gigabit speeds cheaper than cable. Services, quality and prices keep leapfrogging each other, so I never consider myself locked in.

If its helpful, I have been using http://www.phonepower.com/ for the past 4 years. Been very reliable.

I'm in a Verizon FIOS 3-Service bundle (contract expired). I'd love to reduce my bill.

In my case the phone number I've had is tied to the DSL account and did not allow me to port it.

I had the MJ Plus, did not need to be plugged into a computer once set up. It never accepted a static IP address and after time it quot working correctly. I would call it and it never rang, went straight to VM. They claimed it was the wall wart and replaced that. No change and they did nothing beyond that. Service has been expired for some time now and I still get email with VMs attached.
