If the government can do this to them, just imagine what they could do to you.

Wow. Notice how they wouldn’t be able to do this without a complicit media.

How do we stop the Media from, being 98% Leftist? The ratings of outlets like CNN, and MSNBC have tanked. NYT readership is way down. Do people still watch NBC, CBS, ABC, and PBS anymore? Is it just the pervasive leftism in all media and entertainment? They are controlling the narrative. If they weren't the Democrats would never get any traction for all their lies about Trump, Republicans, climate change, etc.

The country is passed the tipping point. The first amendment was never intended to let the press (media) to become a propaganda outlet and a purveyor of fake news. The media uses their power to smear and malign those who they disagree, and those that are victims are powerless to fight back when the media runs and hides behind the first amendment.

As we all know, it's just not traditional Media (print, TV, news websites) it is now Social Media and a Tech MONOPOLY that has a death grip on information that is 100% Liberal/Progressive/DEMOCRAT. It is beyond biased, it is pure propaganda as you say. No, this isn't right, nor should these monopolies be allowed to stand.

Government needs to outlaw print and website monopolies at once! Once there is central control of only correct information that will stop those socialists!

Are you channeling steingar, now?

I have a teeny bit of hope in that my YouTube feed will pull up suggestions in line with what I watch, like if I watch a conservative Fox clip, it will suggest more conservative stuff. But we have to fight for it, like Diamond and Silk had to fight to get back on Facebook or whatever platform banned them.
But these social media outlets, YouTube and Facebook are virtual monopolies. Yes they are private and hence have the right to discriminate but actually no, they behave more like a public utility that has a monopoly.

I never said that Government should step in and regulate them. However, they are acting like Monopolies, and actually UTILITIES. What if they were all Conservative and censored Liberal/Progressive content and only supported Republicans. Would that be OK to you?
My preference would be for more CENTRIST providers show up and offer competition to these Communists, and proceed to Eat their Lunch in the marketplace.

They aren’t monopolies and no amount of claiming they are will make them monopolies. (A classic monopoly exists either because of government intervention or a finite resource is fully or mostly captured.) They aren’t utilities, either. Perhaps you should name the companies you believe are monopolies and what stops people from choosing alternative providers. Likewise, explain which ones you believe are utility-like and what happens to people who are disconnected said utility.
To answer your question: as a libertarian (who used to be a conservative in my youth) I’d have no issue with conservatives censoring liberals in any media they own or control.

I agree with you there. I understand your outrage and that some action needs to be taken - just as long as it doesn’t involve more government intervention.

I said they were acting like Monopolies, not actual monopolies in the technical sense. Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Twitter, Apple, and some others control the vast majority of information flow. Ma Bell (AT&T) was less a monopoly, but they never broke in on phone calls to tell you to not say something, or CUT OFF your phone call all together. Did they? Yet they were broken up.

Government sucks at almost everything they do. They are a necessary evil. Yet we still have anti trust laws. Should we never follow them? Should they all be repealed?

To regulate commerce with foreign nations and among the several states is one of the very few powers of congress in the Constitution. (Article 1, Section 8, clause 3.)
Whether they are monopolies or utilities or not, it is a proper function of government to regulate these outlets if they are not operating fairly.

Agreed, the Feds do have the power to regulate interstate commerce, and Sarbanes Oxley and Dodd Frank prove that they're so good at it.

The government used to have some handle on breaking up monopolies to the benefit of the people. Remember having to rent a phone from Ma Bell?
They also fuck it up royally sometimes, or refuse to do their jobs to regulate it.
I point to the consolidation of the Big 8 CPA firms into now the Big 4. Worse yet is the consolidation in the airline industry. I don’t think the consumer has been well served by limiting options, but the politicians certainly have.

I thought you'd appreciate the SOX reference. :)
Yes, I think the AT&T break up was a good thing. Microsoft was convicted of anti trust activity in Europe and had to pay huge damages there. It is a fine line, but a paradigm shift needs to occur in our information age where 98% of the Media, Social Media and Tech generated communication, information, and news (propaganda) is Far Left, Progressive Democrat.
