Title: Damn! He did it AGAIN!!!
Post by: Rush on February 28, 2020, 04:02:50 PM
A few weeks ago I wrote a letter to Trump asking him to please ramp up the prison reform. I've been watching "60 Days In" and Christina Randall videos and I'm horrified at the conditions in our prisons and how many people are unjustly incarcerated.  Not only do I care about these people, I also think Trump needs the black vote to win this year, and blacks are disproportionately affected by our horrible prison situation.  Last week I got a snail mail note from him which I'm sure is signed by a machine but whatever. That was dated February 10, and look what he does on February 27!  It's like I've found Aladdin's magic lamp!

Quote
Former NFL safety Jack Brewer declared President Trump the “first black president” during a round table discussion with black supporters Thursday.

Mr. Trump sat down in the White House Cabinet Room for a discussion with leaders from the black community, including Mr. Brewer, Diamond and Silk, and Martin Luther King Jr.’s niece Alveda King, among others.

They talked about a range of topics, but the one that particularly touched Mr. Brewer was Mr. Trump’s accomplishments on prison reform.

“I’ve been a Democrat all my life but I’m not a Democrat now,” the former Vikings player-turned-ordained minister said. “You’ve changed me. You touched me. And you made my work go to another level. You inspire me. And every time I go into those prisons and I ask my guys how many of them had their sentences reduced and they raise their hands, I know I’m doing God’s work and I thank you for that.”

I had to look that one up on wiki:

The P-38 is known as a "John Wayne" by the United States Marine Corps, because of its toughness and dependability.[3][unreliable source?][citation needed]The can opener is pocket-sized, approximately 1.5 inches (38 mm) long, and consists of a short metal blade that serves as a handle, with a small, hinged metal tooth that folds out to pierce the can lid.
A notch just under the hinge point keeps the opener hooked around the rim of the can as the device is "walked" around to cut the lid out. A larger version called the P-51 is somewhat easier to operate. The handle portion can also double as a makeshift flat-blade screwdriver, with limited ability because of the rather soft sheet metal used.
Official military designations for the P-38 include "US ARMY POCKET CAN OPENER" and "OPENER, CAN, HAND, FOLDING, TYPE I". As with some other military terms, e.g., "jeep", the origin of the term is not known with certainty; the P-38 opener coincidentally shares a designation with the Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter plane, which could allude to its fast performance, additionally the P-51 can opener also has an aircraft namesake in the North American P-51 Mustang.[1]

Oh, dear Lord... I LOVE fountain pens.  I have one but I need another in a smaller point size. My script changes completely when I use a fountain pen. Gorgeous, elegant. I will have to send this link to hubs for my birthday hint.

Yeah!  I use fountain pens for writing cards to friends and relatives and notes to my wife.  The writing is just so much more flowing and elegant.  Just feels classier.  Fountain pens convey feelings so much better than a ball point.  Something that can never be captured by an emoji.   :)

The proliferation of ball point pens is surely the cause of the decline of good manners and western civilization in general.
