Title: Writing to the President
Post by: Becky (My pronouns are Assigned/By/God) on March 03, 2020, 08:34:34 AM
Rush, did you write snail mail to the President, or email? I have several things to advise him about and want to get results like you did. What address do you use?

Thanks!

Here's the address.

President Trump
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500

I used basic business letter format, on plain white paper, kept it to one page, with short paragraphs making concise yet brilliant points. ;D

I put it in the mail on January 12th and his response was dated February 10th, so it took less than a month for them to screen it for Anthrax or whatnot, process it, and get the form response into the automatic pen machine. HA!  I like to think he himself read it and composed the response and signed it but I know better. Still, it's a nice memento. I've got one from Reagan too.

P.S. hmmmm  it occurs to me I probably should have addressed it to President Donald J. Trump.  Don't know what I was thinking there.

What would your letters to Hillary read like if she had become President?    ;D

Ha. They might say what Rush wrote, but if it came from me it would be read as “Hill, please send the IRS to audit me.”

Yeah I wouldn’t risk writing my thoughts to Hillary.

Yes, you would, but in Crayon.

And in that Gary Larson, "Far Side" style where the dogs and cats write notes to each other but some of the letters are backwards because we all know pets can't spell that well.

Mrs. Steingar's Aunt and Uncle used to do mail for Clinton.  I think they answered the letters, too.

You mean they were on the staff at the White House dealing with mail?

My mom's roommate was a telephone operator at the White House. Of course that was back in the 40s or 50s.

Thanks! I believe the Trump administration is the most responsive in my lifetime. It’s like he knows he only has eight years to get stuff turned around and is wasting no time.

He meant to say Kremlin.

I’ve never seen anything like it. All other presidents seem to operate within the parameters of what will not do themselves too much political damage. Trump is immune to that; he’s going to keep the promises he made to the American people come hell or high water and no matter the consequences to himself. I’ve never seen anyone stand up to so much punishment as is heaped on him from so many enemies yet be unwavering in his course, all the while thumbing his nose at his tormentors. It’s amazing.
