https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ shows some metrics like the attached.
Notice that of the active cases worldwide, 2% are in serious or critical condition. Several weeks ago, that percentage was 5%, then 4%, recently 3%, and now has fallen to 2%.
And wrt the closed cases, the percentage of deaths has also fallen.
Could any of that be considered good news?

Not to our Reptilian Overlords.
-
2% of cases are serious?
Huh, that would mean there are 7 million people who will get seriously ill from the virus, most of them over the age of 50. But they won't all get sick at the same time.
Maybe we can start going back to work?

That arithmetic only works if you assume every man, woman and child in the US gets the disease.

They likely will at some point. This thing doesn't mysteriously go away.

Unless it acts like some viruses and goes away with the hot weather.

yet we managed to survive the Hong Kong flu... granted a lot of people did die from that pandemic.

1968 Pandemic (H3N2 virus)
The 1968 pandemic was caused by an influenza A (H3N2) virus comprised of two genes from an avian influenza A virus, including a new H3 hemagglutinin, but also contained the N2 neuraminidase from the 1957 H2N2 virus. It was first noted in the United States in September 1968. The estimated number of deaths was 1 million worldwide and about 100,000 in the United States. Most excess deaths were in people 65 years and older. The H3N2 virus continues to circulate worldwide as a seasonal influenza A virus. [emphasis mine] Seasonal H3N2 viruses, which are associated with severe illness in older people, undergo regular antigenic drift.

Pretty sure that’s the one I got two years ago! Dang! Took that long to make it to me?
I guess if we are treating viruses differently now, by shutting down the economy until they are all gone, we will need to stay shut down for at least 50 years for covid19.

well, how many viruses have been completely eradicated? Or, putting it another way, other than smallpox, is there any other deadly virus that has been completely eliminated?
-
They can't even make an effective flu vaccine. They have to guess at the active strains.
-
They might be able to use Hillary's Vampire blood to make a vaccine, but the side effects would be too horrific.
