Did a bunch of Republicans sit out the election, more so than Democrats? If so I’m disappointed in them.

That's the frustrating part. Republicans could take over almost any state, probably even California, if they'd just get off their asses and VOTE!

I don't know if that is true as the population has consolidated and continues to consolidate in the Metro Areas (cities, suburbs and now ex-burbs are all Democrat). Of course it helps if those people mobilize and also helps if some of the Metro people stay home. Trump won due to that in 2016 because Hillary was such an awful, uninspiring candidate.

Much of Michigan outside of Detroit/Wayne County is republican. When only 28% of all eligible voters show up, and most of those are in Detroit/Wayne county, it's not hard to see which way the election goes.
Voter apathy is destroying this country. In many states we are allowing a select few to elect government, and now we are seeing the results.

People tend to vote when there is something in it for them. If the choice is merely between two evils, it can be hard for a lot of people to pick one, so the don't bother. Unfortunately, too often the thing that is in it for them is "free stuff", so both sides engage in that to a point. Of course, it is obvious that one party takes that practice to a greater limit than the other and makes it their foundation. In order to break that cycle, you need to provide a candidate that has great appeal, or at least much greater appeal than the opposition. Mud slinging is one way to make the differences more obvious, but that too has it's repercussions.
Politicians; can't live with em, can't live without em. But I'd often like to try the latter. That's why I support Trump.

This is the same dynamic occurring in every State with a large Metro area, multiple metro areas or neighboring Metro Areas. The population is concentrated in the Metro areas and they can mobilize easier due to their proximity and also use Voter Fraud as an art form. The Metro areas are overwhelming the entire geography and that's why we need to get out a much higher percentage of the vote than they are.

You don’t care about people! If those measures save even one life, it’s worth it! You only care about money! And you’re racist! And xenophobic! And a white supremacist! And a Trump cultist! You are anti-government! The government is doing what is best for us! We need to trust the government!
Fauci’s guidance is spot on because he is a highly paid government bureaucrat, who has not lost his personal income, and that’s how we know that he knows better than small business owners what is best for the country. Also, highly paid government bureaucrats are immune to political bias and also are more compassionate than ordinary small business owners that face financial devastation.
The highly paid Democrat governors, who have not lost their personal incomes and are presiding over their states’ imminent bankruptcies because of their own mismanagement, care about people! That’s why they are demanding that middle class red state workers’ progeny be on the hook for generations and bail them out of their self made mess, and they are wisely multiplying the destruction of their own state by prolonging the shutdown, so that everyone can see how victimized they’ve been by evil capitalists and how compassionate they are as they try to prevent just one person from getting covid19! That’s why they mandated nursing homes to take covid19 patients, duh!
How dare you imply we shouldn’t bow before these wise, superior overlords! What is wrong with you!?!

I listen to a sports talk radio program Saturday and Sunday mornings if home or driving in the car. Same two guys both days. They're a bit older than me and have been around for a while, so not Millennials. They know the old sports history and that's why I listen. Lately, I have been having to turn them off. They give the most Left sided view of this whole Virus shutdown and are telling people that we are still in the middle of it and to follow ALL government rules, masks, social distancing, etc. They proclaim the end is nowhere in sight and we need to keep hunkering down until government says its 100% safe.
This seems to be the viewpoint of that 95%+ of the Media I am always talking about including sports media which is also LEFTIST.

One of my coworkers said if they open the bars and she goes, she will cut a hole in her mask and drink her drink through a straw. SHE WAS SERIOUS. These people are INSANE.

Your wife, being a highly trained and accomplished medical professional, is probably on the side of extra cautious, or does her Progressive ideology make her that way? Or both? Or, to be fair does she think this is way overblown? I have cousins that are M.D.'s, degree'd nurses and Pharmacists and they are ALL preaching super caution, but they live in Jersey, so......

We ate at Cheesecake Factory last night. They just opened Thursday for dine-in. The will give you a menu if you'd like or you can scan a QR code to get the online menu. They are sanitizing the regular menus they give out. I watch a lady take a wipe out of her purse and wipe down every page of the menu while at her table. Next I watched her take a zip lock bag of straws so she wouldn't have to use the paper wrapped one the restaurant gave her.
