Title: Reparations fallacy
Post by: Bob Noel on June 14, 2020, 05:49:20 AM
One problem with slavery reparations is the assumption that money/wealth in a family, stays in the family forever.

Over the years how many "rich" people have gifted people/organizations other than their immediate family?

Over the years how many "rich" people have lost their fortune?  (can you say Great Depression?)

Over the years how many "rich" people have been scammed?

Over the years how many "rich" people have lost everything because of drug/alcohol abuse?

Over the years how many "rich" people have started a new business venture only to see it completely and utterly fail?

Over the years how many "rich" people have lost everything because of a gambling addiction?

A simple case study is to look at our highly paid athletes... there are plenty of examples of athletes suddenly getting rich and then losing all of it (or almost all of it).  Consider Derek Sanderson (former Boston Bruin).

Now, ask the same questions again, but replace "rich" with "lower class" or "middle class"

If my grandfather had property (one grandfather did indeed have farm land), there is no guarentee that I would have inherited any of it (and, in fact, I didn't).

A truth bomb.

Slavery.  Yep, there was a slave trade back in the early days.  The slave traders went to Africa and does anyone believe these people just ran down to the docks and jumped on the boat?      Nope, the local tribes sold their own people into slavery.

Fast forward to 1850-1860's.   Where were some of the largest slave markets?   Why NYC is one.  Other markets were found in the north as well.

And now to the part our current media and progressives absolutely want to ignore:  Who fought to end slavery?  Hint: It wasn't the democrats.

Also, who fought against the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments to the constitution?  Hint: It wasn't the republicans.

Also, who created the KKK and Jim Crow laws to suppress the freedom of the blacks?  Hint:  Not the republicans.

Also, who fought against civil rights legislation?  Hint: It wasn't the republicans.

This is why the progressives, just like their communist benefactors and brethren want to destroy and remove any trace of history.  This is why the 1619 Project was created to rewrite history to their narrative.

Has anyone wondered why the BLM wants statues of Lincoln tore down?  It's an inconvenient truth.

The U.S. War of Independence ended in 1783, but Independence was declared 1776.  So if we use 1776 as a start point, the U.S. only existed for 78 years before Slavery was made illegal by the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863.  This "400 years of Slavery" is a LIE.  We were a British Colony.  Also, Spain, France, Holland an other countries had territories before the U.S. existed.

So 78 years of slavery.  Yes, it was wrong, but it was an accepted practice at the time and nothing new unfortunately.  The American Indians enslaved each other.  The Romans and others had slave for centuries or even millennia.  Again, that doesn't make it right or acceptable, but as a country we ended it pretty quickly.

Now the Media, Democrats and some Black leaders and others are pushing for Reparations.  I started hearing that term back in the late 90's.  It does nothing but further divide us along racial lines and that is what they want.  Do you think whatever dollar amount that is given to all American Blacks is going to end the calls of Racism?  NO.

Reparations are nothing more than wealth redistribution.

And who speaks more to wealth redistribution?  Communist.

Should tell everyone who is behind all of this.

Why should the people of today be penalized and PUNISHED for what people did over 155 year ago?  This is retribution and PUNISHMENT for being WHITE.  Period.  And yes Communist redistribution of Income and Wealth.

Reparations go hand in hand with the LIE of SYSTEMIC RACISM.  I am tired of the Media, Democrats and Black Community telling me I am a Bigot and Racist 24/7 even if I say or do nothing that would make me so.  We posses "Unconscious Racism" as we are said to possess Original Sin.

The entire reparations bullshit is nothing but another way to scam taxpayers by the leftist horde in pursuit of votes.

Nobody is even trying to pretend it has real meaning, anymore. It's just give them money and they will remain our bitches...

Adding another question: what about immigrants?  My family fled the potato famine and were coal miners on one side, sharecroppers on the other. How does anyone figure we have anything to do with slavery?

New York was the last northern state to outlaw slavery in 1827. Yet, blacks in NY are in arguably worse shape than blacks in North Carolina where they were kept as slaves much longer.

Both side of my family didn't show up here until the 1880's and 1890's.  Well after slavery ended.
