Title: Is it illegal to burn a flag?
Post by: Little Joe on January 05, 2021, 06:35:49 AM
The answer is NO if it is the American flag.  Go ahead and burn it.  It is your Constitutional right to free speech.

But the answer is YES if it is the BLM flag!  You have no right to free speech; If you are saying the wrong thing.

It's an illegal arrest and the police should be heavily censured for it.  It ought to be apparent to everyone by now that flag burning is permitted.

Flag burning is legal if it's a flag you actually own. It's not legal to burn it if it's someone else's property - which is the case with the misdemeanour destruction of property charge here.

Good point.  However, the optics are bad for the Cops.  But, they don't care because they have de facto legal immunity, not that they need it in this case, but.......

Oh, that makes sense.

I just thought that burning and destroying other people's property was ok as long as it was done during a mostly peaceful protest.
