Interesting.

I agree with much of it. I think there are parallels. The big difference is the 60's was about things that could go away. The Vietnam War, and institutionalized racism. Both of these are long gone. Yes, we still have racism, but it is not backed by institutions any longer. Our issues today are more complicated, and germane to our existence as a country. Communism/socialism vs Capitalism. Free speech vs PC thought control, etc. These are issues now ingrained on our youth as positive traits for America, polarly opposite to the Constitution.
Will the Constitution matter in a post Hillary Presidential election?

He's basically saying what I've been saying for a good while now. There is no uniting, or bringing the people together anymore. We have widened so far to the right and to the left that those of us left in the middle, those most like the electorate of the past, are increasingly without a party to represent them and really, soon to be without a country. I don't want to live in Hillary Clinton's country, or Donald Trump's country, or Ted Cruz's country, or Bernie Sander's country. The parties that made these candidates are becoming more and more repugnant to me.
I feel the way forward for America now is a third party and a third party may well lead to a forth and fifth party. This means that coalitions would have to formed, give and take would have to accepted to be able to govern. It would no longer be an either or proposition with simple majority rule power grabs. New isles would have to be installed in the House and Senate and no party would hold all the power. If anything were to get done, they would have to convince the third party to support their ideas.
It's not an original idea, but I think it's a good one. If a new party were to have it's platform be fiscally conservative, have reverence for the constitution, but then embrace a more libertarian position on social values with a populace view in regards to regulations, then I believe it would grow and gain traction. People should matter more than corporations and Wall Street bankers. The government should work with in it's means and the constitution should be interpreted as it's written. People should be able to live their lives whatever funky way they want and not suffer discrimination. People should be able to say what they want and do what they want. Religion should be an individual right to practice, but it should have no place in government, or policy.
Anyhow... I'll dream on and prepare myself as best I can to live in Hillary's country. :'(

Who's your Fantasy Candidate?
-
Just like the sixties hippies, a lot of these whack jobs will eventually have to grow up, move out of their mother's basement, exist on more than iPhones, and EBT cards, and get a life. Once that starts t happen, the majority will become busy living and stop all the whining that they think is their constitutional right.

Who's your Fantasy Candidate?
I have no idea, but it would not be someone from within politics. It would be a charismatic outsider that is well liked, and a great track record for doing good things. It would be somebody who would be great at being president, but would never in a million years actually want to be president.
Somebody with the vision, drive and optimism of Elon Musk, the infectious likability and enthusiasm of Neil DeGrasse Tyson and solid performance like Norman Schwrzkopf. Something like that. Like you said, it's fantasy.
