My old boss moved back to the PRC, he is now working in a hospital in Macao. Thankfully he is back to publishing great papers in international journals, I was worried for a bit. I was surprised he went back, the stories he told about the Cultural revolution were hair raising to say the least.

His information is second-hand and his claimed sources cannot be revealed, per the article:

But once we had the lockdowns and the damage to the economy became obvious, his enemies jumped on it. They deliberately and calculatingly conspired (their words) to fix the election. The pandemic enabled mail in ballets, and all the expansion of deadlines, AND the social distancing which keep the bipartisan observers from actually seeing the ballots as they were counted, all of which enabled all the cheating that swung the election in just a few key districts in the wee hours of Nov. 4.
