A reminder that this thread is for jokes, it's not for political newspeak. We've seen an uptick in the number of non-jokes that are overtly political lately and while we have been more lenient with political content in the joke thread than we would be on the main board, please don't take advantage of it. If it continues, there will be warnings with points given.

I saw that too. You know, once you are not posting on that board for a bit, it really does play as a bunch of nannying.
The primary problem in my view is that MC have begun enforcing explicitly subjective criteria, claiming to give people points because of their intent.
At least saying no political posts is an explicit objective rule which obviously involves some judgement around the edges. But the subjective criteria are essentially an attempt to create thought offenses.
Let’s move the discussions over here folks. Just as with Facebook, best solution is to just not participate.

Actually, your input there has been welcomed, or at least I liked the contribution. And, the present MC board does seem to allow more things to happen, they are actively trying to be not so smothering.
But in the end it is what it is, and that's why we come here.

Aww thanks. But me leaving has nothing to do with whether anybody there gets anything out of my contributions, it’s based on whether I get anything out of being there.
Plus the enormous frustration when I spend an hour composing a well documented scientifically correct analysis of something destroying some moron’s moronic post, only to hit the post button and get told this thread has been locked.

I get that. I only hang out as I've actually met some people in person and still enjoy going to what limited fly-ins happen these days.
