some other threads delve into this, but I thought it might be useful if we discussed this in a separate thread. (maybe I'm just being somewhat OCD)
There are many vaccinations out there including shots for pneumonia and influenza and covid-19 and ??
It's my understanding that pneumonia vaccination and influenza vaccination isn't required. Encouraged for some but not required for adults.
What I don't know if how many vaccinations are out there, how many are required, and why
I know the CDC has recommendations wrt to vaccinations ( https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/schedules/hcp/imz/child-adolescent.html ), but what about adults?

The federal government has limited jurisdiction over public health matters under the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. Ch. 6A), there are currently no mandatory vaccination programs authorized at the federal level, nor any regulations regarding the implementation of mandated vaccines during a public health emergency.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is the federal agency charged with providing evidence-based recommendations and guidance on the use of vaccines by different population groups. Specifically, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices is a group of medical and public health experts within the CDC that develops recommendations as to when a vaccine should be given, the number of doses needed, the amount of time between doses, and possible side effects of the vaccine.
Some states allow opting out of vaccinations for coinciencious objector, religious or medical reasons. And that opt out does not preclude someone from attending school or participating in society.

We had this controversy in 1901 over the smallpox vaccine. It’s nothing new.

What’s different is that smallpox was a much, much worse disease. Even then there were people who didn’t want the vaccine. It is human nature to resist being forced to do things. The federal government (and Democrats in general) are incapable of learning that fact.
Much better would be a vaccination program that developed trust and convinced as many people as possible to get the vaccine voluntarily by being scrupulously honest about all aspects of both the disease and the vaccine. Then whoever didn’t get it, just let it go. That way we remain a free society.
The biggest obstacle to that are the hysterically deluded masses so fearful they want some authority to force everyone into compliance. These are the exact same people who cheered when witches were burned at the stake.
