I see windows 11 is ready.
Is anyone upgrading?
Has anyone upgraded? Was it a good upgrade?
-
Hell no. Like with 7 I’m putting it off as long as they still support 10. I hate Microsoft and their constant changes, each more invasive than the last. I hear with 11 it’s harder than ever to not have Edge as your default browser.

That Commie Edge page DRIVES ME NUTS. Total Far Left Propaganda

The only reason I haven't gone to Linux is my business requires me to use Windows. Plus I'm too lazy to have installed it yet.

I’m an Apple/Mac guy at home, and my firm will update our work computers whenever they want.
I got to the point where the complexity of keeping Windows up to date and configured and safe and integrated with protection software got to be too much to hassle with, so I went with a MacBook Pro a few years ago. I like it a lot once I figured it out. I did have to get Windows and Excel for Macs to make it functional for me though. Ironic.

Just for grins I went from 10 to 11. Honestly other than a few cosmetic things I don't see any difference. Some rewording (uninstall is now remove) and other things. I'm still on Firefox with no issues at all. Seems they are trying to make a desktop look more like a tablet, but nothing major. Opinion: not worth the change but at this point I don't see any problems if you do.

All good advice. Thanks.
I've been toying with changing over to mac, just because.

For personal purposes I like the Mac a lot. I’m not sure it would be best as a strictly business computer, though more and more businesses are doing just that.

I hate hate HATE that. Everyone is doing everything on their little phones now? You go to a page on your desktop and there’s no menu, just cryptic little symbols you’re supposed to know what they mean. Invisible stuff you have to try to figure out how to make appear. All because they can’t put much on a little 3x5 inch cell screen.
My mother had a cardiology appointment and we got a message telling us to download an app to fill out her check in paperwork! All the questions about medical history, insurance info, sign the the HIPPA and financial and consent forms I’m supposed to do on my PHONE!? WTH is wrong with people?
I found their normal computer link and did it on the desktop. That was bad enough.

Cryptic little symbols don't require the user to know the english language. Just sayin'...

That’s part of the problem. Don’t get me started on laundry care labels. I have no idea what those hieroglyphics mean. Or they print the instructions in four different languages in teeny tiny font to squeeze them all onto the tag. I speak two or three foreign languages I’m not “foreign language phobic”. But I can’t read any of them in the teensy print.
It’s one of the evils of globalism. Not only are we dependent on enemy countries on the other side of the planet for all our shit, now we can’t even have info in our own native tongue.

One of my gripes is when you buy a piece of electronic equipment. They come with Quickstart Guides, User Instructions, Product updates, Warranty information and more.
And each one is printed in several languages.
Why the hell don't they print 4 manuals; one in each language so I can throw the others away. I can see a separate page or two with updates, but everything else should be grouped by language (and in a font that doesn't need a magnifying glass).

I had a router that said, for user instructions, go to blah blah website. That’s the ultimate fu to the customer. How am I supposed to go online for the instructions when I’m trying to hook up my internet?

did you try disconnecting and rebooting the router?
edit: oops, sorry, my bad. First you have to reboot your computer.
