Title: A Request
Post by: EppyGA - White Christian Domestic Terrorist on June 07, 2023, 11:12:01 AM
I bookmark things in Twitter to watch at a later date. As you might imagine, the majority are of a conservative matter.  Every time i watch a Twitter video, after a short time it dumps out and I have to start it again anf find where I was. I'm curious if any of you that are on Twitter experience similar happening.  Here is link to one I just finished, it dumped out at least three times.  If you wouldn't mind watching it and letting me know if get the same response, thanks

What browser are you using?

I have found that using Safari on an Apple device it does exactly that, it will lose my place on any video.  Sometimes it takes a while.  But if I use the camera then it immediately loses the place. I have no idea why that should be but it happens every time.

But on my PC using FireFox it will keep my place in YouTube videos forever.  I can leave it up for days and when I come back it will start back right where I left off.  I haven't tried it with Twitter videos yet.  I'll try it with yours.

This is on my PC using Firefox Developer Edition.  It just happens in Twitter.

I'm talking about leaving it open in a tab. Are you closing the tab?  You said you have it bookmarked. Is it storing your place for a short time while it is bookmarked but not open?

I'm just spitballing here, but some programs, like Duck Duck Go clear cookies when you exit.  If that happens, you will always lose your place.  Same with any browser set to "private"

I’m thinking with YouTube on the PC it has something to do with my FireFox adblocker. It’s very good, I never see any YouTube ads.  I don’t have a blocker on iOS.  I theorize that YouTube reloads periodically to load new ads and that resets the video, and something about the FireFox blocker prevents it from reloading the page.

I'm talking about having never begun watching or anything. I go to my book marks in Twitter and begin watching a video for the first time. Not too far in it will simply stop and jump out of the video forcing me to start it again and try and find my place.
My reason for asking is, I had a theory that it was Twitter trying to dissuade me from watching certain videos by doing that.

OHHHHH!  YES!  Twitter does that to me too!  Only certain videos, it gets stuck on that loop.  Sometimes I can never get past a certain point and see the whole video.  Gosh that’s something different and I have no idea what that is.  Could it be too many people trying to watch it at the same time?

Ok, perhaps the videos you are watching are so popular the Twitter server pukes.  Like it did when Elon was talking to DeSantis.  The server couldn't keep up with the load.  Of course liberals and Trump supporters tried to blame it on DeSantis's team's competence, and not the overwhelming audience.

Perhaps that is so. Most of what I watch is two or more days old.
