Wife and I went to a Mexican place for dinner last night. Our server is an immigrant from Venezuela, not sure I ever got his name. He was very pleasant. His English is adequate to wait tables, but not for conversation. He has been here for seven months, we did not discuss how he got here, that conversation would have been hard. He is working on learning English. When question about the politics in his home country, he felt things really went downhill once Maduro took over. He's certainly glad to be here and have the opportunity he has here.

I'm sure he is happy to be here. He gets to bypass the immigration process, he's making money that he can send back home to support family in Venezuela. He has access to free medical care, housing assistance and all sorts of education assistance, courtesy of the taxpayer.
Meanwhile, there is once less job available to a citizen.
Throughout my life I've traveled extensively and have lived abroad. Even in third world countries they have better immigration control than the US.
The majority of these illegals bring nothing to the US. Most are common laborers with little skill or education. It will take the US decades to recover (if ever) from this massive influx. And like Europe we will see many of these illegals refusing to integrate into American society, rather insisting that Americans adopt their society.

Yep. The US is pouring billion$ into Ukraine because their border was breached and their country invaded. It's about their "sovereignty".
In the last few budgets the US has poured billions into strengthening other countries borders and protecting them.
But this is not just the FJB Administration. The so called republicans in congress are just as guilty.

That's not as big a problem as it once was. There are tons of jobs available to citizens, but too many citizens won't take them, and are being enabled by "government assistance".
What we should do is for every immigrant that comes in and does take a job we should deport one able bodied citizen on assistance.

No need to deport. Just start cutting back on public assistance, or for the able body types, give them public service jobs and make them earn the money.
Drop the food stamps program and replace with government supplied food, such as rice, beans (not cooked), SPAM, bread etc. No going to the supermarket and stocking up on snacks and goodies at the taxpayer expense.

No argument with that from me.
Although I'd still rather have "legal" immigrants that want to work rather than spoiled citizens that are forced to work.

We have a huge problem filling skilled and unskilled labor jobs. The cause is that for generations now the leftist-controlled universities told us we could all be professionals like doctors and lawyers or social workers or non-profit employees or simply more university professors. There are no job openings for a BA in Dutch renaissance art so you end up in a tenured position at a college teaching Dutch renaissance art to the next crop of students who themselves will graduate with tons of student debt, and refuse to take a “dirty” job in construction.
The higher institutions of learning have become bloated vehicles of self enrichment. We have eliminated classes in the skilled trades and told boys women don’t want such low class men (even though you can earn six figures easy as a plumber or welder).
Not to mention we simply aren’t having many babies to take these jobs as hordes of boomers retire from them. We need the immigrants until we reverse what the lefties are doing to us. Letting them in illegally is the wrong way to do it. If there is any silver lining, you can expect their children or children’s children to turn more conservative and to assimilate. The Hispanics are doing that. A bigger problem is the Muslims that keep to themselves and try to set up Sharia law in their communities but that’s another story.
