This little gem is available streaming on Netflix.

Not at all what we expected, but I have a feeling many here would enjoy it.

Just try to watch when it can have pretty much your full attention - it is subtitled.

If you do watch, I'd be curious as to your take on it.

You were right.  It wasn't what I expected, but then again, I had no idea what to expect.  I knew it was not going to be a Chuck Norris film, but it was very interesting.  And it should serve as a warning to the American people.  The fear of surveillance kept people in line and even had them informing on each other.  This was one of the methods of controlling the populace.

Of course though, I wasn't surprised to hear that even in a communist country, some people were making many many times more that the average person.  Of course, this was because the government created a market for people to deal in forbidden items, merely by forbidding them.  Sort of like our war on drugs.  It was fertile ground for criminals and bribery.

One comment I liked was at the very end:
Quote
It was becasue they seemed trivial that they had such a big impact".
No, they weren't talking about ISIS.  They were talking about video tapes.

If the information contained in video tapes could rouse the people to overthrow a repressive government, the power of the internet to do far more hasn't even begun to be tapped yet.
