Seems the mayor of Springfield Ohio owns several rental properties. I admit to not knowing who is occupying those properties at this point in time. If they are occupied by Haitians, I would question the ethics involved. Would it not be considered a conflict of interest on his part to be part of the subsidized housing by the Federal government?
-
Owning rental properties and then bringing in tenants that have a guarantee of always paying the rent? And giving them preferential treatment over others? Nah, not unethical at all.

I agree, but as I stated, I have no info showing who occupies those residences.

There's money to be made in the rental market right now. The government is using your tax dollars to subsidize rental homes for the illegals.
This is one reason home prices shot up is companies were buying homes to cash in on the taxpayer cash.
And with homeless veterans, and families struggling to pay rent or make a mortgage? Sorry, your government doesn't care.

You expect people owning rental properties to want people who won't pay rent and wouldn't prefer people that would pay?

I think he's talking about the local politician using Fed money to enrich his private enterprise.

I understand the federal assistance for Haitian asylum seekers is only for a year. So you’re guaranteed rent for one year, then what? Start eviction proceedings?

In taxachusetts, the gov (surprisingly since she is a huge supporter of whatever trash the DNC nominates) has been pressing to get migrant families out of state shelters after a year (or however long it's been). And not surprisingly there is a massive amount of handwringing and whining about "evicting" these poor migrant families. (but no concern for homeless veterans)

Quite possible, after a year the place will be totally trashed.

maybe not.

From the experience we had evicting a delinquent renter, yep.

maybe not.
I'm talking about the residences. Have you seen the pictures from Haiti? These people are suddenly going to become domesticated?

I've seen pictures of Haiti. Some close friends have gone to Haiti more than once. I believe I understand how truly poor people in Haiti are.
I also believe that some will take advantage (in a good way) of the opportunity they have here in the USA.

Question: I keep hearing that the Haitians in Springfield are "here legally", but as far as I know, they entered the US ILLEGALLY but were given legal status to stay by the Biden administration. Am I mistaken about that? I listen to a lot of radio news on my morning walk and none of them mention the part about entering illegally. Just that they are here legally.

I heard they were picked off boats trying to get here and given refugee status because Haiti is now being “ruled” by a criminal gang. That makes them legal.
Which of course incentivizes thousands more to get on boats and head here.
I guess the theory is Haiti will fix itself and then the refugees will happily want to return home to their newly stabilized society ready to enter a prosperous golden age. Hence the one year limit on their financial aid. 🤣

I've spent time in Haiti.
It's worse than most can imagine. Yet millions upon millions get poured into it only to be stolen and never any help for the people. Even politicians such as Bill and Hillary have pillaged money from Haiti, it's so ripe for corruption.
The people there are very under educated and tribal. Taking these people out of Haiti and dropping them into modern society is a huge mistake. Andrew Wilkow has a saying "You cannot bring there to here without here becoming there". He's right.
The Regime has been dumping Haitians around our country for a reason.

What about the American workers being displaced by the Haitians? Are we suddenly saying that these Americans suddenly decided they didn't want to work anymore and are just okay with being replaced with cheaper labor?

This. You can take a single individual, especially if very young, sponsor them properly, meaning an American guides them through all the ways of survival in our modern first world society, and they’ll adapt and assimilate. They have to, because humans are by nature pack animals; we must bond with a group. So they join the host culture. I saw this work after the Vietnam War when our church set up sponsorships for individual refugees from South Vietnam.
But when you take groups of thousands, even tens of thousands, and dump them in one place without individual sponsorship, they remain in that group because they have little choice, and a large group will keep its own culture. Eventually it may dissipate and assimilate but alternatively if it gains enough resources to continue surviving intact, it may decide its native culture is superior and so self isolates.
In the latter case, it may even gain political power and attempt to transform or replace American culture and legal system. Muslim communities pushing for sharia law are doing this. Other groups simply want to live separately such as the Amish. Still others participate in the economic system but not the social culture such as Orthodox Jews and certain fundamentalist Mormons.
But these new immigrants from Haiti and the illegals in criminal gangs aren’t organized self sufficient groups (yet) and have no power or means of survival other than handouts from the government, criminal looting, or “living off the land” (eating geese and maybe pet cats?), and all of this is devastating to the local community and to the American economy in general. It is completely unsustainable and destructive and you are correct: It is quite deliberate.
There is no other rational explanation other than our leaders are trying to commit national suicide. They tried to kill the economy with lockdowns during Covid, now they are trying to kill our culture allowing mass invasion plus all their woke nonsense. Next it will be direct involvement in war. How else do you explain allowing Ukraine to shoot American missiles deep into Russian territory? They want war with Russia. These people hate America.

That's one thing I am of mixed feelings about.
YES, we are saying that suddenly (sort of) many Americans have decided they didn't want to work, as long as they can accumulate enough "government benefits" for not working.
Has anyone here tried to hire a hard worker lately? How many young white people show up, and if they do and you hire them, how does their work ethic compare to these refugees?
I hope Trump does mass deport everyone that came here illegally, AND cuts back on the "government benefits" that makes living in Mom's basement, or shacked up with another government leech more tolerable than working.

Has Chief Wiggins been reached for comment yet?

You are correct and it fits into the “Mousetopia” theory. Before hearing about that, I had thought that the decline in young men’s motivation was caused by feminism. Women don’t need no man so men can’t get a woman so have no reason to work their ass off. Getting government benefits, living in mom’s basement, being a minimalist, working part time and not bothering to learn a trade; it all enables it but isn’t the root cause. Without believing they have a good shot at a wife and family, young men fall into depression and lethargy.
But the Mousetopia experiments strongly suggest it’s biological. It is a collective reaction to a society that has reached so much prosperity that it has multiplied to a point that evolutionary forces kick in to limit further growth. It’s built into our DNA. In the experiment the female mice became more masculine and aggressive, and lost interest in caring for their babies. The male mice’s testosterone levels lowered, they lost interest in mating and either isolated themselves engaging in endless self grooming, or joined “criminal” gangs that went around targeting and killing any mice who engaged in normal reproduction.
This was in the context of a “universe” capable of supporting 6000 mice which provided endless food and water, was routinely cleaned and maintained. Four original mice put here thrived and they reproduced until there were 2000 mice, well under the capacity of the container. At that point some sort of switch was flipped to reverse the reproduction and begin population decline. By the end of the experiment the mice went completely extinct.
Something about living in an environment with plenty of food and no outside threats at first enables great growth but eventually results in complete societal breakdown. If we can apply this to humans, it seems apparent that what America became was very near this kind of utopia. Virtually endless food and resources even to the poorest among us, and no possibility of military invasion or any real outside threat.
It turns out both feminism and men’s reactions to it, may well be the result of an inbuilt process in our species that kicks in after a certain number of generations of near complete comfort and security. Mother Nature knows we cannot reproduce at a high growth rate indefinitely. High reproduction rates are needed in the context of poverty, disease and war. When prosperity is achieved they continue to a point but then the brakes are applied quite abruptly.
Women’s reluctance to have children early or at all might be less of a conscious choice and more subconsciously driven by hormonal chemistry as a group. Much like women will synchronize periods when living together, maybe we make other reproductive decisions collectively influenced by synchronized hormonal changes in the group as a whole.
Men’s masculinity seems to be a function of women’s femininity. The more a woman signals she wants and needs a man, the higher his testosterone level (I saw one study along those lines.) Without women needing them, and without much need to work to be fed, and without outside enemies to fight, men lose any drive to do much at all.
We aren’t a closed mouse playground. We do actually have an insidious outside threat; right now in the most obvious form of illegal immigration. There is also a huge existential threat to which we are blind: complete dependence on a global supply chain, a sudden breakdown of which would result in chaos. But we are too far down the hole in the process of not reproducing enough that before it is reversed we will be taken over by foreign hordes or find ourselves involved in catastrophic world war.
Because we aren’t a closed Mousetopia we won’t go extinct like the mice did. We may be culturally taken over, we may suffer Civil War, limited nuclear exchange, actual deadly pandemics, etc. but we will eventually start the cycle all over again, rise like a Phoenix from the ashes and enter a new age where men and women will once again be partners in accordance with our biology.
