I can’t really see how the commie left media will be able to mitigate the disaster that is walz tonight.
At times it’s like he is channeling jomentia biden.

Vance was very good, smooth and direct. Tampon Tim not so much. When the moderator fact checked him, Vance let her have it and their cowardly response was to mute his Mike! Bias a bit CBS? Broke your rules for the debate by the way.
I betcha a lot of woman voters were impressed with Vance. Hopefully undecided and independents will be swayed.

But January 6!

But January 6!
That’s all they got, that and abortion.
-
nope - they also claim the cackler is from a middle class home and the evil Trump is from a billionaire background....
and COMMUNITY

I knew it was going to be biased from the almost subliminal backing soundtrack just before the camera went to the stage.
For those who didn't catch it, they were showing a montage as an intro and the very last soundbite before switching to the "moderators" was the phrase, "...the next president...Kamala Harris".
Sneaky fucks.

But January 6!
Vance blew that one by not replying that the only person killed on J6 was Ashli Babbit and mentioning the other deaths were all protesters.

And that Pelosi bitch declined the National Guard President Trump wanted to send in to maintain order! That needs to be stated a lot more than it has.

Thanks, I forgot to add that.

I started watching it (recorded on rumble) and first question something like what are you gonna do about the Iran/Israel situation? Walz was just “Orange Man bad, evil Hitler etc.” and Vance started out “I grew up in a poor family… blah blah,” and finally, “well they didn’t do that shit when Trump was in charge, so we need him back,” which was the right answer but he should have gone directly to it. Then rumble cut to an ad! So I quit. Maybe I’ll watch the rest when I get time. We are in PA and hubby’s mom has days left and we are kinda overwhelmed and busy.
Oh and Philly SUCKS.
-
Sorry about your mom, Rush. That has to be hard for you both.
Find peace about what is about to happen and try to offer your mom as much love and comfort as possible.

Death may deprive us of the wonder of this existence, but it can never erase the triumph of our having existed, whether for a hundred year or for one hour
(I always thought that sentence elegantly captured a basic truth, but have to admit I stole it from dialog in the "Route 66" TV series episode "A Month of Sundays".)

Thanks guys. It’s part of life. None of us gets out of getting to die.

It sucks, though. For me a loss like that leaves a feeling of emptiness and nostalgia for a time of life that can never be reclaimed.
In 2018 my wife and I started preparations to retire, traveling around to find a nice place to retire rather than stay in Oregon.
Then in September 2018 my mother-in-law in Illinois, age 90, had a stroke. We traveled from Oregon to help out. Though she appeared to be improving in the hospital she died suddenly within a couple weeks. Clearing her home of decades of acquisitions and selling it was a sobering experience. One of my tasks was shredding old documents with identifying info - she kept bills from 50 years ago! (As all this was happening we had sold our Oregon home and had rented one in Rapid City. Made for a logistical puzzle.)
Then in the spring of 2019 my own mother in Minnesota had a stroke. She was in hospice for six months. "What a horrible way to die" she commented at one point. The stroke had made it difficult to speak and could not move. By that time we had moved to Rapid City and so traveled to Minnesota for weeks at a time to help out. My mother eventually died a few weeks after her 99th birthday. I and my six siblings were sad, but if anyone weeped it was not within my sight. Though everyone had likely come to terms with the inevitable while she was in hospice (there was some family drama due to vain hopes of improvement with the right treatments.)
Oh yeah - I think our plans for fun travel in retirement finally got a hesitant start after Covid also intervened - about 4 years after we hoped to start.
Sorry for the diversion from the thread topic - guess it's a long winded way of saying I think I understand what you are going through and sympathize.

You’re right, dealing with the demise of the old people is traumatic, busy, complicated, emotional, also a relief sometimes. It’s my husband’s mom, not mine. She did pass early this morning, so we have changed our plans to drive down the east coast and are staying here another day.
It’s like she waited to see her son one last time then said, okay I can go now. She was a great mother-in-law, very good to me. A wonderful grandmother to our children.

In our case, currently, it is our youngest DIL. Three years ago now she 80% of her liver removed due to cancer and was cancer free for a year. It returned last year and treatments have been stopped for a while now. She has outlived all expectations at this point.

Young people is a whole different level. When our daughter got cancer at age 23 it was like the order of the universe was all messed up. Thank goodness it appears she was permanently cured.

Experienced that with my mother-in-law Rush. One of her daughters was at a softball game (before cell ph so took awhile to find her) and hung on long enough until her daughter got there..
Condolences Rush.

So sorry for your loss, Rush.
It sounds like your mother in law was prepared and ready which means a lot.

Visit to the funeral home this morning, then on to DC. She’s being cremated so no big service or anything.

Sorry to you and your husband Rush.
Thanks. You live in PA right? We found out from the lawyer there’s a 4.5% inheritance tax. No wonder people are leaving the state. You might want to consider leaving before you die. Go somewhere like Texas. ;D

I believe the tax is on the beneficiary, only if they reside in PA.

That would make sense, since states cannot tax outside of their state, although now Sales Taxes are charged for out of state purchases, so who the hell knows these days.

I plan to move in the not too distant future. Mountain state, out West, where Jim lives or another one nearby. PA sucks in many ways as it's becoming more like NJ, or NY as they're all moving here and RUINING it.
-

No, it doesn’t matter where the beneficiary lives, they pay the tax, or rather, it appears the state confiscates it before you even get it. What matters is only that the decedent lived in PA. It also is collected even if the inheritance is not in the estate proper. In her case, most of her wealth was in a transfer on death brokerage account, completely bypassing probate and the formal estate settlement. How nasty is that.
So the investment bank and the lawyer are working to figure the exact amount owed and I’m not sure of the details but I think what will happen is the bank will withhold the tax, send it to the lawyer who is helping settle the estate and who will have an estate trust account, the lawyer holds it until certain deductions are subtracted, which apparently you can deduct certain expenses from it? Then send the final amount to the state. I THINK.
The whole thing is just dirty theft.

DOJ Indicts JD Vance For Brutally Beating 3 Women
(https://media.babylonbee.com/articles/66fd73a3436af66fd73a3436b0.jpg)
NEW YORK, NY — The excited mood among Republicans following last night's vice presidential debate was quickly squelched by the breaking news that the Department of Justice had indicted Ohio Senator J.D. Vance for brutally beating three women.
A spokesperson for the DOJ confirmed that the federal government received multiple tips last night from people who said they had personally witnessed Vance mercilessly bludgeoning three females on live television.
"Senator Vance allegedly perpetrated a vicious attack last night," said the DOJ spokesperson. "We were notified by an abundance of eyewitnesses who accused Senator Vance of soundly beating three women, one of whom is elderly and may be 'special needs'. Upon further investigation, we determined there was enough evidence to bring an indictment against Senator Vance on these charges. We will be forced to issue a warrant for his arrest if he does not turn himself in… or just drop out of the race. That would be totally fine, too."
One witness in attendance at last night's debate confirmed the legitimacy of the allegations. "Yeah, he really whipped those three broads," the debate attendee said. "He was trying to get his point across, but those three ladies kept squawking at him, so he just unleashed on them. By the time Vance was done speaking, none of those ladies were left standing. It was brutal."
At publishing time, a representative of the Trump-Vance campaign released a statement clarifying that, despite evidence to the contrary, one of the people Vance battered was a man.

Right. It’s not fair if your parents saved a lot of money and want to leave it to you. Other people’s parents didn’t do that so we need to take some of your money and… give it to the others? No, use it to feed a growing government bureaucracy.

Just about everything government does now is against the Citizen that does the right thing, is responsible, productive and benefits society.
Government wants to abolish those types to have dependent, controlled serfs.
