Happy Thanksgiving!  A big thing to be thankful for this year!  Thanks to Donald J. Trump and everyone who voted for him.  And a BIG thank you to the Democratic Party for conducting the stupidest most failed campaign with the weakest most crazy candidate ever!  You guaranteed Trump’s win!

"Bah humbug. I hate all people and all holidays and don’t care if they never go up. And get off my lawn!"
Merry Christmas!? It's not even December yet!

I have a small 6# Prime standing rib roast.  We are also having lobster and scallops over pasta, but I bought so much lobster and scallops that we might skip the pasta.  I think our vegetable will be pumpkin pie and for desert we'll have some distilled barley, wheat and a few other grains.

Turkey and whatever else my son cooks.  No carbs for me though. I've finally made it under 200lbs and hope to not go back.

My bride is busy baking right now.

Cmon over and have some.

Yum!  I wish I could.  I used to make three pies for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas. Pumpkin, sour cherry, and mincemeat. The mincemeat had “hard” sauce to top with (a very thick concoction made of butter, powdered sugar and hard liquor of your choice) and the pumpkin pie had whipped cream. Some of my guests (and myself) would have a small slice of all three!

Happy Thanksgiving! Fuck the Democrats. Nah hope they have a nice Thanksgiving too. Turkey and the trimmings. I’m baking a couple of pumpkin pies as I write this.

Turkey, ham, clam chowder, all the sides. My wife is about to go on a cleaning spree since we host and family is coming around 1:00. I'm going to start drinking and stay out of her way. Oh and she makes me put that crap parade on tv.

Been there done that, many times, as the wife. Hosted 12 to 14 people with the family, spouses, boyfriends, whatever. I’m too old to do that anymore and nobody would fly to Texas for it anyway.

Enjoy it while you can, it doesn’t last.

Just had to run to the store. Nice to see that I'm not the only husband walking around getting last minute things that the wife forgot.

but publically you are admitting that you forgot some things that the wife repeatedly told you to get, right?

Hope the Democrats enjoy whatever meal $5.85 will pay for this year.

Me, my wife, and three dogs will all be together for Thanksgiving.  Turkey breast, stuffing, cranberry sauce (from a can and it MUST retain its can shape), and some green vegetables.  Pumpkin pie with lots of CoolWhip.  And then Hawaiian Fruitcake with lots of pineapple and macadamia nuts!  Of course Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and a Christmas movie or two.

I just came from the nursing home. My sister has been in nursing care for 26 years, and last night the home upgraded her to a bigger facility where she can get a more intense level of care. I spent time with her and she thinks the home gave her a ride in their van while they changed her bed linens.

I think she knew it was thanksgiving, but we will take her a special type of turkey sandwich my bride and I make for the family on a thanksgiving and spend some time with her this evening.

The staff seem far more attentive than the last place, so, who knows, maybe she will thrive a bit more.

Gosh wow! 26 years needing nursing care, I can hardly wrap my mind around it. Glad she has you to look after things.  I fear with us boomers aging out the nursing home industry is going to be very busy.

This time, no. She didn't get enough green beans or milk. Is it really Thanksgiving if you don't have to go to the store that morning?

My wife gives me so much crap for my love of canned cranberry sauce. It's the best. So much easier to slice off pieces for my turkey sandwich the next day.

I have two versions of cranberry. The canned, and yes it MUST retain the can shape!  This is my childhood memory and it must be duplicated. Then there is the cranberry orange relish which my mother started making later in my childhood so it is equally as important. But takes work to make, so as far as I’m concerned either or both are acceptable.

Sorry but no Cool Whip. Homemade whipped cream, whipped just before serving. That’s where I depart from dear old Mom, she used the canned stuff (Reddi-Wip).

I didn’t even know the stores were open Thanksgiving morning.

Our stupid post office seems to have taken most of the whole week off. We got no mail at all Tuesday or Wednesday despite the post office tracking saying we had lots of mail due to arrive both days. 🤬

There are some weeks we only get mail a few times during the week.  Years ago you could set a clock on the mailman/woman at 12:30.  Now if we get mail it's anytime between 8AM and 7PM.  The reason one lady told me is they are so short of delivery people and sorters at our local postoffice.  She said people will be hired on and then quit in a few months.

I think that’s the problem here.
