I'd like to see that go viral.

My small business employed mostly young women, some older women and rarely a male.
During the winter, and with the time change it got dark early and our business hours were till 5:00. Even without working overtime it was dark out after work.  The girls all clocked out when their day end assignments were finished but I noticed that they would hang around the exit doors until there were two or three of them ready to go and they walked out as a group.  I finally found out why that was and I started walking them to their cars a few at a time, or even one at a time.  I had no idea how much they appreciated this until our next Christmas party. Even having a 60+ yr old man walk them to their car made them feel safer and appreciative.

Walking any woman to her car should be just as instinctive as trying to pick her up in a bar. It's what a man does.

You know...fuck that. Women have ruined any type of chivalry from guys with all their equality, I can do anything a man can do, etc. Hell, these days "she" might have a dick.

There was a JAG episode (S3 E11) where Mac explained to the Admiral the difference in how men and woman leave work and walk to their car at night.

quote --
Sir, when we leave this building tonight
we'll do it in very different ways.

You'll get in your car and drive off.

I'll walk out and pay attention to
shadows and dark corners.

My keys will be in my hand for quick access to my car
and in case I need them as a weapon.

I don't give it a second thought because it's standard
operating procedure every time I leave every building.

Women's intuition isn't a joke.  It's a matter of survival.

--end quote

I knew these women.  They were not like the ones you describe and don't deserve to be treated that way.  Their presence and their dedication to their job was a direct benefit to me.  Not to mention that their appreciation made ME feel better.  I'd hate to go through life being bitter at everyone.

It’s all part of the Mousetopia big picture. Males and females becoming mutually hostile to each other, undermining reproduction. We are on an irreversible course of collapse of Western civilization.

The fact that these young men still exist gives me a little bit of hope.

I'm not bitter at everyone.  Not even everyone on PS.  Just a select few.  And even fewer of them are women.  But I'll make an exception for women like Pelosi et al.

I now think men and women in any type of "romantic" relationship are really in a state of War. It's adversarial at best.

It's a constant state of war between hubby and I.  Especially daunting is the "you snooze you lose" rules of engagement when it comes to delicious snacks.

I get it. Except for the retaliatory purchase sequelae.

I don't feel that way at all. It is interesting learning how to deal with my wife's lack of short term memory. So far, I'm not doing the best I can with it and have to keep reminding myself to try an not say :don't you remember" or "we just talked about that yesterday"  It's tough.

My wife is everything to me and I work hard to take care of her.  There is not a lot she can do currently. We are waiting on answers from the new Neuro team and she will get another spinal cord stimulator trial put in next month to see if that will help her back pain after the first one failed so spectacularly.  Also need a plan for her neck.

What make/model stimulator? I have a 4-5 year old Medtronic, and it just doesn't work well anymore. Thinking of pulling it out and just getting some nerve endings burned.

The one that is currently implanted is a Boston Scientific. It is not at fault, the surgeon is at fault for not aborting the procedure when he couldn't get the lead paddle where it needed to be due to a narrowing of the spinal canal.  He is no longer her Neurosurgeon

The new Neurosurgeon wants to try the Nevro product which get placed lower in the Thoracic portion of the spine.  The trial is set to be put in on January 21st. Unfortunately that will only help her back issue.  She has a video appointment on January 13th with the Neurosurgeon to talk about her neck.  We'll see what she has in mind then for her neck.

I’m having short term memory problems but have no idea if it means anything. It’s possible I am overly sensitive to it because both my and my husband’s mothers had severe dementia for many years and I’m traumatized by it and terrified I will go down that same path, or my husband will or both of us.

The other possibility is something like absent minded professor syndrome. I am constantly and I mean every second of every day mentally absorbing information from media and analyzing it in my mind or working at my job and so I pay little attention to the small tasks of life like whether or not I took that pill or what I walked into the other room for. Maybe I don’t remember things because I do them on autopilot and do not pay conscious attention to them.

The neuro gave me the 30 question cognitive exam and I got all 30 right. They say there is such a thing as normal age related cognitive decline like I am starting to forget the names of people I knew long ago if I haven’t thought of them in a long time. Or forget a word temporarily but it comes back.

My husband and I talk about what happens if one of us becomes seriously demented and have accepted that we are each other’s potential caregiver.

That you are so loyal to your wife speaks volumes about the importance of a strong marital bond and your good character. I guess that’s what it means for better or worse in sickness and health. When saying those words when young we really don’t grasp the full impact until later years.

One thing I learned wrt dementia or alzheimer’s…. almost no one has a perfect memory.  Don’t be concerned about forgetting where you put the remote.  Rather be concerned if you forget what it’s for

I, myself, find myself not remembering things. Last night, I couldn't think of minions. We have a minion inflatable in the yard and it quit working.  I have trouble remembering actors names sometimes. It's weird and I attribute it to getting old. There is not a real pattern to it that I can ascertain.

Yes I do exactly that.

I see someone in a movie and tell my wife... That's someone.  Most of the time it isn't anyone who's been in anything.  Sometimes I get it right and it's someone we've seen in another show.  Not forgetting a face exactly, but remembering a face wrong.

Lookem up:  IMDB

I do that, but she's always right.  I think that if I exercise my face recognition it might improve.  Or at least not get worse.  I only pull out IMDB when I'm sure I'm right.  I think that's happened once or when we can't figure out where we've seen that person.

I've never been good attaching names to faces.  I've given up trying to learn student names when they're gone from my class in three months.  I do remember the names of good students, but I'd never be able to recognize their faces.

I use IMDB all the time for that purpose.

Right at this very moment I can’t remember the name of that female lesbian singer. She’s on my playlist!  Dang I’m going to have to go look at it.

K.D. Lang.

Ugh.

for kicks and giggles, watch really old TV shows to see actors before they were stars.

I had a great time watching the Perry Mason series on DVD and keeping track of actors (e.g., spock, mr wipple, col klink, david maccallum, etc)

Twilight Zone is good for that.  Kirk and Spock were in an episode together, lol.  Outer Limits and others as mentioned above, Damn we're old. Also, DeForest Kelly was in a lot of Westerns in the 50s and played three versions of characters in various iterations of "The Gunfight at the OK Corral".

Yes, you're right!  Man From Uncle was one of my favorite shops, growing up!

Thanks.
