Meghan Kelly bitch slapped the useless fire chief of LA for caring about who you sleep with instead of whether you can fight fires. Stupid bitch ignored non working fire hydrants, to focus on diversifying the fired department and the city is paying for it.
Stupid is as democrats do.

Another article said the mayor slashed the fire budget over the years to spend more on homeless. Fire is essential and one of the few places I support tax dollars for.

According to this article by 17 million. Wanted to cut 23 million originally. Calipornia doesn’t burn out underbrush in their forests so when a fire starts it spreads like, well, wild fire. Here in the South we do. Still hav3 fires but usually easier controlled.

One good thing from this, IMHO, is Newsome is now exposed as an incompetent fool, the left is turning against each other, and now his chances at a 2028 run is slipping.

There’s rumors on X that these fires are being started deliberately all over the place and/or accidentally by homeless making cooking fires. Or smoking their drugs or whatever.
But the truth is the Santa Ana is pushing sparks from whatever fires there already are all over the place. Or, that could be the truth.
Probably all of the above.

The media is running story after story of the Hollyweird types losing their mansions. Many of those mansions have no insurance.
Meanwhile, in North Carolina winter is here and people that lost their homes months ago are still living in tents in some instances. And no media coverage.

Not defending that at all but I was thinking about catastrophes and losing one’s home because we live in a hurricane zone and I’ve had to evacuate and I’ve lived through tornados and even had extensive damage to our home due to flood. No one anywhere is safe from possible disaster.
But there must be a unique terror with fire, especially this sort of wildfire. There are stories of roads being jammed and at a standstill and the fire coming, people having to abandon their cars and run on foot, carrying their babies and maybe a suitcase with the only belongings they could save out of everything they own, while an inferno is chasing you.
I’ll take a hurricane over that any day.

If the R's are smart (which they aren't) they would play this up the right way and place complete blame on D policies. It would be amazing to see CA turn Red next election.
-
if they were smart, they would show how the democrats contributed to the amount of damage and loss of life. Fires will happen and aren't caused by democrats or republicans.
Failure to effectively and responsibly manage the risks from such fires falls on the liberals.

Yes, this was a combination of a lot of things that came together in the “perfect storm”. Everyone is correct. They happen anyway by nature. And the environmentalists not cleaning out forest debris is a problem, and the mismanagement of water, and budget cuts, and the regulations of insurance, and the DEI hires.
But these fires are a normal occurrence in the region. The authorities should plan for them better.
