Let’s hope he hires intelligent, competent, honest, non-DEI hires to protect our President and Vice President, and their families.

Bongino talked today how the Secret Service has been tasked with too many things beyond protecting the President.

Did he mention the original purpose in 1865: suppression of counterfeiting? The agency wasn't tasked with protecting the president until 1901.

They should put all the DEI hires on Biden's (and other liberals) protective detail. How could they complain about that?
Does an ex-VP get lifelong SS protection?

So what? It's become a very important role. No?
Do you not want the President protected by them? Then who? FBI? Capital Police?
You're just a fountain of information. ;D

The VP and President used to get secret service protection for 15 years after their term expired.
jimmy carter requested extended protection and congress voted to make lifetime in 1981.

Hearing all of these people that are not going to attend the inauguration makes me wonder if they know something we don't.

well, since the Secret Service isn't part of the US Treasury anymore, maybe their mission can be better defined and/or maybe the Secret Service should be given the resources to accomplished everything required.

Bongino says the SS shouldn’t be in charge of “major events” like the inauguration but some other dedicated force. If he said what I missed it. Military or something maybe. SS can handle day to day.
The issue is that the FBI said they are not tracking any credible threats for inauguration. That can only mean one of two things:
1. The FBI is lying
2. The FBI is too incompetent to have detected the credible threats
Between those two things it’s a 50/50 shot.
Because there is ZERO chance nobody is planning something. Half the country’s regular people and significantly more in DC truly believe Trump is an existential threat to the entire planet and they want him dead. NOW. YESTERDAY.
And they need to get rid of him before he takes the oath.

IF some moron (fbi fall guy) did manage to get a shot at President Trump, then JD Vance becomes President and nominates a new VP. If both were to be shot, then mike johnson (perish the thought) becomes President until 2028.
Senility corrupt-o-crat joe, or granny wine box aren’t on that list.

That’s true after the oath, but is that true before? Nevermind. DuctAssist just told me it is.

I think you took my historical note the wrong way. I'm good with the Secret Service handling protection and didn't try to indicate otherwise. I simply replied to a post containing a forwarded complaint that the Secret Service was being assigned too many tasks - so I pointed out when a couple of those tasks arose.

Trump becomes president at noon on the 20th, regardless of when he takes the oath. He could take the oath today if he wanted and avoid the whole public ceremony, and he still wouldn't become president until noon on the 20th.

Yes.

Got it. Thanks.

I did not know that. Thanks.
