CMP is once again offering surplus 1911s.
-
1911 is my favorite platform. But I don’t need any more.
I know, I know, “Bite your tongue!”
-
I have two: my father's old WWII vintage and my slightly newer one. I've never fired my father's. I want to keep it just as he left it. Mine has never failed, feels "just right" in my hand, comfortable weight. Love it.
-
I live 30 minutes from Camp Perry and CMP North. Might be taking a drive tomorrow.
-
Just read the prices. $1300 for a "service grade" 1911. WO! I haven't priced handguns for a while. Time to adjust my insurance coverage.

Yep, check what the policy covers for general firearms and if you have a special antique or something you can get an appraisal and an additional rider. At least our insurer does it that way. But the base policy amount is just a percent of the total policy amount.

All my gun, jewelry and such are under a personal articles policy. Seperate policy so deductibles are lower, too.

I bought a lot of Russian, and Combloc firearms and gear in the 90s when it first became available. The prices for that stuff is through the roof.
Including several Russian SKS's and a prize 1944 Mauser P-08 Luger that was a Russian capture, and in storage since WWII. It's very accurate, and extremely reliable

Unfortunately, all lost in that boating accident.

I remember my Mosin-Nagant costing me about $100 around 15 years ago and there were around 15-20 on the racks to choose from.

In 2000, my FIL was buying them 4 for $100. Ammo was around 5 cents a round.
They kick like a mule, worse than the Mauser 8mm.

It's been a few years since I shot mine.

The entire safe went down. Deep water too....

I have (had) the M44 Carbine version. Yes it recoils hard, but the fireball it emits is amazing. ;D
Unfortunately, that went down with the ship also.
