Trump didn’t actually ban it. He banned the use of federal funds for it, and for promoting it:
“It is the policy of the United States that it will not fund, sponsor, promote, assist, or support the so-called ‘transition’ of a child from one sex to another, and it will rigorously enforce all laws that prohibit or limit these destructive and life-altering procedures,” the order says.
The order directs that federally-run insurance programs, including TRICARE for military families and Medicaid, exclude coverage for such care and calls on the Department of Justice to vigorously pursue litigation and legislation to oppose the practice.
Medicaid programs in some states cover gender-affirming care. The new order suggests that the practice could end, and targets hospitals and universities that receive federal money and provide the care.

So there’s a notorious website I’m not going to link that has a thread about transgender surgeries where they post uncensored pictures of the resulting horror that is “bottom surgery” or as it’s inaccurately called SRS (sex re-assignment surgery) because you can’t change a person’s sex. Nor can you give them anything like the genitals of the sex you aren’t.
You end up with a dysfunctional sad attempt at mere cosmetic approximation that fails miserably even at superficial appearance, and that has an extremely high complication rate, including permanent bladder malfunction and loss of ability to orgasm, loss of fertility is a given, and you’ve got something down there that virtually nobody wants to fuck. This is all applicable to both directions.
This thread has over a thousand posts and is over 4 years old. I don’t look at much on this forum so I don’t know if it leans one way or the other politically. It seems more dedicated to badmouthing individuals and individual issues than embracing a single ideology. But one person made this comment after Trump’s EO:
“I think I'm starting to like this Trump fella.”
Makes me wonder if it’s a Dem starting to rethink things.
Anyhow in this thread someone reposted complaints from a tranny support forum where one of them went to a clinic in Thailand for followup treatment only to be told that per Trump’s order the funding had been cut! As a result the employees had all received a 50% cut in pay and they had doubled the price of their services.
So, our tax dollars has been going to “worldwide trans initiatives” that were paying for trans treatments overseas.
I would like an itemized list from the federal government of everything my money is paying for and I want a line item veto. No, I do not consent to help pay for people many I’m sure who aren’t even American citizens to get transgender so called “care”.

Almost half a century ago, when my trans friend committed suicide, I was all for research into how to help these people. Apparently no real scientific research was ever done that cared about looking for real solutions. Instead we ended up where we are now with public health funds going not to objective research, but to promotion and enabling of transgenderism as settled science and a lifestyle, and straight to funding grotesque surgical experimentation which is nowhere near proven “safe and effective” yet for political reasons is offered as if it’s a standard of care.
This is evil on the same level as the experimentation on Jews in concentration camps or in the Tuskegee study. Worse actually, all they did … was give them syphilis. They didn’t cut off their dicks. Correction: Well apparently they killed a lot of them.
Thoughtful people who have dug into the subject, like Jordan Peterson for example, have come up with what the “experts” should have decades ago: That transgenderism is a mental disorder and needs to be treated on the mental level, not by mutilating body parts and completely destroying any hope of a love life or having a family.
In extreme cases, the hatred a male trans has for his own genitals will lead to self castration and amputation if he can’t find a surgeon willing to do it, but apparently that’s not a problem anymore. Surgeons willing to do it are a dime a dozen now. How did it come to this? Federal funding of it at medical schools?
But cutting off one’s own junk oneself is so rare it’s not even worth talking about. And it involves psychotic levels of mental sickness. That’s no reason to make gender reassignment surgery widely available to everyone who questions their identity. Much better is to do a complete psychological evaluation upon which you will find comorbidities such as depression, anxiety, social ineptitude, autism, and other forms of body dysphoria such as eating disorders. Then treat these.
But the current state of mainstream psychology is to forbid even suggesting to the hapless presenting patient that these purely mental issues could be the problem, not that they were “born in the wrong body”. And even if you accept that they were, jumping to surgical mutilation as a “cure” is unconscionable and, if you gain any knowledge of the typical results, downright evil.
Almost 50 years later and we have not only not made any progress at all, that would have saved my friend, we have descended into making it far, far worse. And are now drawing in people who never would have even thought they were trans at all back in those days. As bad as my friend’s fate was, it might have been much worse if he’d been around today. Some of these post op people and what they are suffering, it seems they would be better off dead.

Very slight correction to an outstanding post. It was the "Tuskegee Experiment" that allowed untreated syphilis to kill some 100 blacks. The Tuskegee Airmen were not involved, but they faced their own challenges.
