I’m watching the DOGE shark ripping thru the layers of lies and liars stealing taxpayers blind.
Every lefty I know is wetting themselves pretending that cutting any waste, fraud, or corrupt bribes will kill people. Their use of media sound bites is almost hilarious.
It would be funny if they weren’t so pathetic.
It made me think of mikey. The current federal cutting must be turning him to a shrieking nut bag.
He hasn’t been seen since it was apparent that the senile imposter was going to loose. He never once posted while camel hair was pretending to be the democrat commie candidate. And living in the faculty lounge hot house of ignorance, he must be nearly suicidal.

On the subject of DOGE. I'm all about nuance and I've got some.
Black and white thinking: There is fraud. Get rid of it. Not fraud is okay. Hard dividing line.
But the world isn't black and white, there's a lot of grey. Here's some. I'm on the CPAP thing now and I'm on Medicare, one of the government programs rife with fraud. So here is the equipment replacement schedule for my device:
Mask cushion: Every 2 weeks
Disposable filters: Every month
Mask frame and tubing: Every 3 months
Headgear, water chamber and non-disposable filters: Every 6 months
So this is the "manufacturer's recommendation" and they will ship you all this stuff on this schedule PAID FOR BY MEDICARE.
Now the grey area. Maybe for some people for some of these items they do need replacing on this schedule but not for me and not for a lot of people. Take the Mask cushion. Every TWO WEEKS?!! I've been using my most recent one for 6 weeks now and it is showing no signs of degredation whatsoever. It might last months.
The tubing: Every 3 months? As soon as my 3 month day arrived, they shipped me a whole new set of tubing. My tubing looks like it could last years. There's nothing wrong with it. However, it's nice to have a spare set in case it forms a tear or something. But I certainly don't want to pile up more tubing arriving every three months, or trash what appears to me to be perfectly good tubing.
For the tubing and the water chamber, I can see maybe needing to replace it on that schedule if you're using humidity, because of mold, but I am not. I need NEVER replace the water chamber, but how much do you want to bet they'll be sending me one as soon as I hit 6 months?
So here is the situation: The CPAP DME (durable medical equipment) is a PRIVATE company. They maximize profit by resupplying all their customers on this made-up schedule. However, Medicare must approve it, and that's where it gets grey. Some people maybe DO need to replace the mask cushion every 2 weeks. People with oily skin, people using the humidity setting and it gets too yucky. There's a thing about "getting infections" from your CPAP equipment so to be extra conservative they want you to replace all this stuff frequently (on top of cleaning it daily). I think people have sued CPAP companies claiming the equipment made them sick and that might be part of it.
But how much is what I call "soft fraud". It's not OUTRIGHT fraud, like how doctors bill for diseases you don't actually have. But it's a muddy line. All in all, maybe most people don't need to replace the mask cushion every two weeks, but because some do, Medicare approves it for everyone. This being enabled and promoted by the private DME who is the one profiting. It probably adds up to billions of dollars.
For myself, I will make sure the company does not have me on automatic re-supply, and I will only call them and reorder when I think I need replacements. On the other hand, I don't want DOGE to go all chainsaw on it so I can't get parts when I do need them.

You are correct. I used my original hose for 5 years. Most of my headgear lasted for two years or more. I replaced the filters yearly but they never looked like they needed replacement.
Besides that, if the so-called "sleep doctor" didn't automatically prescribe CPAP for any night time breathing issues, I probably wouln't have needed it at all. Once I found out I was lactose intolerant, my breathing issues cleared up about 90%. (losing some weight cleared up the other 10%). A little extra diagnosis on the front end would have saved thousands and I would have had a better outcome.

As soon as taxpayer money is involved, it becomes endless. There are zero constraints. In a completely privatized system, your insurance company is the gatekeeper. It limits payments in tension with the health industry trying to maximize payments. In theory there is competition keeping costs reasonable. But real life doesn’t follow theory. In the private market you get hampered by regulations and lack of anti-monopoly enforcement but in socialized systems the theory is some altruistic bureaucracy will gatekeep cost, but it never works that way. You end up even worse with shortages and bad quality of healthcare and runaway cost. Or you’ve got what we have: A hybrid of the two, where you get too much quality (to the point of over-diagnosis in Joe’s case and over-supply in my case) with no constraints whatsoever on cost driving us into bankruptcy as surely as pure socialism.
The common factor in all these bad systems? Government.
