turning the clocks ahead is coming up in a few weeks.

So, what's the sense of the room...

The fact that we even have DST tells me that the number on the clock is arbitrary.  If I were king for a day, I'd have the whole country go on UTC (Zulu) time and keep it there.  There would still have time zones, I'd still wake up at 1500 (7:00 am PST) or if I was in Virginia 1200 (7:00 am EST), business and schools still open and close at the same time they do, only the numbers on the clock would be the same across the country.  And I can't tell you how much easier it would be reading the A/FD.
