Why is this a shock? Name another legitimate country that doesn't have its military on its borders

Canada comes immediately to mind.
Actually a few countries either have no armed forces or have a military but no standing armys (typically because geographic barriers suffice):

Surprised, though, to see Panama on the list with no standing army. No wonder Trump isn't afraid to threaten them (Shields at maximum for incoming irate posts from the usual suspects!)
Also, I'm pretty sure quite a few European Union countries don't keep armed forces stationed at the borders that abut each other.

you won't need any shields for this comment: I'm pretty confident that President Trump doesn't pay much attention to the capabilities of the armed forces of other countries when he "threatens them"

That makes sense since WE are on the other side of their border and they know we are not trying to infiltrate them.

As with every other TDS sufferer, it never occurs to you that Panama violated the terms set out by the loser carter.

He hasn’t threatened them. He's talking about negotiating a beneficial deal that will gain them a lot more money. And whether or not they have a standing army has nothing to do with it. Trump threatened Russia (to bomb Moscow); they have an army.
So, I’m not following your logic. But I’m not irate. 😀
