In case you live under a rock you may not have heard of this. It’s pretty mind blowing.
The context: Bill Maher HATES Donald Trump. He held his nose and voted for Kamala just to vote against Trump even though he is thoroughly disillusioned with the Democrats. He agrees with MAGA on several key issues and has totally rejected the far left faction of the Democratic Party, “wokeness” in general, and has lost much of his audience because of it. But he is never going to forgive Trump for questioning the results of the 2020 election and has bought the mainstream media narrative that the courts found no fraud (a lie) and that J6 was an attempted coup (also a lie) and that Trump is a Nazi dictator (the biggest lie of all).
Kid Rock (rapper/country musician?) is a supporter of Trump and somehow befriended him. He also knows Bill Maher and he got the idea that if they both got in the same room and “broke bread together” they could resolve some differences. This is of course a key concept: That enemies might actually meet face to face and try to relate as humans is a good thing. So Kid Rock (aka Bob) arranged the meeting, Trump agreed.
Trump, Maher, Kid Rock and Dana White had dinner together in the White House and Kid Rock has said it went surprisingly well, with Trump and Maher very engaged with each other (Rock and White feeling like third wheels lol!) they saw eye to eye on several subjects and Trump asked Maher’s opinion on foreign policy matters. Then Trump gave them all a tour of the private residence.
Rock notes that despite donating to three former Democratic presidents, this was the first time Maher has been in the WH.
I have thought for a long time they need to meet face to face. They are a lot alike. Both funny, both love interacting with people, taking a wide interest in people from all walks of life, and they align on many key issues.
Maher said he will discuss the visit in his April 11 “Real Time” show.

It's refreshing when people sit down and interact in a positive, open manner. I wish it happened more often.

Yep, I give credit to both of them for even doing this and giving it a chance, no matter what they say afterwards, but I’m really hoping Maher softens a bit because of it. I don’t expect he’ll start voting Republican though.
