Does anyone here really think we should force Canada to become the 51St state?
Even if that is just a joke or a negotiating tactic, does alienating every other country on the planet, AND half the people in the US itself serve to make us Great Again?
Canada's Liberal Party is projected to win the country's federal election for the fourth consecutive time.
The Liberals, led by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who took over after Justin Trudeau resigned earlier this year, won the majority in a shocking turnaround sparked by U.S. President Donald Trump's threats of annexation and his tariffs on America's close ally and northern neighbor.

Try to convince me the election wasn’t going to go that way anyway.
-
Relax. ::)
Trump's trolling the Communists here and in Canada. Nobody wants that vast wasteland, most of which is uninhabitable.
Who cares what they think? They need us more than we need them, as does the UK, EU, CHINA, etc.
-
Less than half the country (led by the MSM) already hates him and nothing can change their mind. Another few million are illegals who hate him for asking them to return to their home countries. The countries that now hate us are those who had huge tariffs on us and we're finally putting some on them. That's not "fair". And that includes Canada. Trump realizes that most of Canada outside of those who speak French and in the big cities hate their government and would welcome a change away from the policies that are rapidly destroying our neighbor to the north. Becoming more like the USA would be a dream for them, and they understand the "51st state" metaphor. I have some farmer relatives up in rural Alberta who would love to have someone like Trump as prime minister. But they realize, as we do, that big cities and their crazy liberal policies drive their country.

If Canada becomes the 51st state, the danger for Canadiens is the blue cheating.

Yes.
Every great leader knows that if your words and/or actions and/or policies haven't offended someone, then you're not doing your job.
We have learned through sad experience that trying to appease everyone just makes us weak.
I don't care that they don't like us -- I prefer that they don't. What I want is for them to respect us. You see, we don't have allies -- nobody does. What we have are mutually beneficial relationships. Some last a long time, some are short. Every country has its own path, and we need to follow our own. Some former enemies become friends, and some friends drift off onto their own path. We now have a lot more in common with Russia than we do with western Europe.
Relax. ::)

Yes, you need to relax. You're going to have a stroke or a heart attack soon if you don't.

Your last sentence has been on my mind lately. I also feel that we may have more in common with Russia than with the rest of Europe. We're certainly not like communist Canada, the continental Europe, the UK as it used to be before its invasion and takeover. Yeah, the Russian leadership could have a course or two in manners, but the post-USSR Russia could be a powerful ally compared to the backstabbers elsewhere.

Russia has proven to be the master back-stabber of modern times.
Cosying up to Russia is like cosying up to the Mafia.
I for one do not want to live in a country that emulates Russia. We were close enough under Biden. I want to go the other way.
-
Culturally, in some ways I prefer Russia to woke West. Our decline into degenerancy rightly disgusts Putin NOT SAYING PUTIN IS A GOOD GUY OR TRUSTWORTHY. He may run Russia like a mob boss, but it's Europe, Canada and the Democrat left in the U.S. that are now careening toward full on communism.
We could do worse than partnering with Russia to keep the likes of Islamic terrorists at bay. And if the U.S. and Russia were allies, China would not dare pop off, nor would NK.

Agreed. I'll never trust the Russians. You have to deal with them solely from a position of economic, and military superiority.
However, as Rush has said, Canada, UK, and the EU may be iffy, or even worse.

I sort of think of Canada, the UK and a few other countries as children taking advantage of their parents.
Parents give too much to their kids an spoil them. We gave too much to those countries, and they got spoiled by our largess. I don't think it was evil intentions on their part. Yes, we need to show them some tough love but I don't think we should be making enemies out of them.
Russia, China, NK and perhaps even Mexico on the other hand need to be reigned in and smacked down. Along with any terrorist protecting Arab states.
As you and Username have said, perhaps I do need to relax and wait to see how things turn out. I just don't know if i have that much time left.

The irony of Europe … they’re held up by the left as “ideal” in so many ways based on their socialism. Especially “free” health care. But the reality is that they only are able to do that because THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA pays for their military defense. Shocker when they realize they will have to divert funds to their own defense. In other words, they will have to behave responsibly, not dependently.
This all leads to the known fact that essentially America made the world we live in today. We drive almost everything. It will be interesting to see if President Trump can indeed shift more of the world’s wealth toward innovation, human flourishing, and other such noble goals, while dismantling the sick system of grift and dependency that is in place.

The current Russian government cannot be trusted. However, the Russian people seem more like the US Midwest. Even in the big cities. They just want to be left alone to live their lives and run their businesses the best they can under government oppression. I've met quite a few regular Russians and they seem pretty normal. No doubt that there are many bad actors in there, but they are generally pretty nice. As the first and second generations from the Stalin era die off, there is a genuine movement for freedom. It may take a couple more generations, but I think that Russia will slowly normalize into a decent trustworthy country. The rest of Europe is descending into anarchy and chaos with all the third-world "migrants" taking over. There it will get a LOT worse before it gets better.
But regarding Canada... Alberta has a referendum that will allow it to split from the rest of Canada and form its own country. A day after the election.

All of this "making enemies with our allies" and other crap is media generated bullshit.
Yep, the SAME media who has lied over and over for the past ten years. Remember the "Russia! Russia!" hoax? Remember the impeachment hoax? The Charlotteville hoax? The Ukraine phone call hoax? The Mueller Investigation hoax? All the covid hoaxes? The bloodbath hoax? The SignalChat hoax?
The list goes on and on, including the media covering up a mentally incompetent Joe Biden and attacking anyone who pointed out he wasn't really acting as President.
Right now the usual suspects in news reporting are giving the administration 90+% negative coverage. NOTHING has changed with the fake news media. Just this morning the Daily Mail had a headline "Stock Market Plunges on Shock Report US Economy Shrank in Q1". Plunges? Really? Not according to the latest indices.
From what these creeps in the media are reporting and what's actually happen are two different things. The low information types will fall for it and lap it up like a kitten with a bowl of cream. It's pablum for the low IQ crowd.
Oh, and their "fact checkers"? Just another level of fake news, along with garbage publications like PolitiFact, Snopes, Wikipedia, Media Matters, etc.

Russia is suffering from the same problem everyone except African and Islamic nations is suffering from: Population collapse. If the rate of fertility decline is not reversed, this is a lethal situation, in terms of culture and civic organization. If developed nations survive at all they won’t be the great Western Civilization we’re used to. (Or the developed Far East.) Russia might not be allowing the invasion of the two demographics mentioned above like Europe and pre-47 U.S. but that won’t save them from decline into helpless irrelevance.
-
I blame the Mercator projection that vastly overstates the size of Russia and Greenland, and vastly understates the size of Africa. If we saw the true size of those areas then we'd be much more afraid of what's going on in Africa.

So essentially we, the USA has subsidized Europe's SOCIALISM, and Migrant invasion. That's not the type of Social Engineering in which I want to pay with my tax dollars.
