Two of the three biggest cable companies merging into one giant.
That should catch the eye of regulators everywhere.

I think I regaled y’all with the sordid tale of dealing with Big Cable/Internet/Phone neo-monopoly (you know, the thing that was supposed to be fixed by breaking up Ma Bell) after my mother died and we couldn’t cancel the copper land line because she couldn’t consent to it being canceled, being dead and all. Oh the line didn’t work. It was dead too. Somebody had nicked the actual copper wire. But because the baby bell had merged with AT&T nobody had bothered to merge the actual records so they couldn’t locate where the lock on the account was and so couldn’t unlock it, even after they wrapped their head around the fact that I was empowered as executor to authorize them to do so.
Back in the day when I was a young idealistic free market capitalist I defended corporations for being good things. But in reality they are soulless monsters that eat each other up like black holes growing ever larger and ever more bureaucratic and impossible to deal with. Nothing good will come of this Charter/Cox deal. Except some fat cats will pocket lots of $$$.
Edit: Make no mistake, this doesn’t mean I’ve turned against capitalism. It’s the worst, except for all the others.
