In 29 May 2025 Boston Herald, there is an article about ICE arrests on Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.
Our idiot gov was complaining "We have ‘zero information … and that needs to change,’ Healey says". After years of preventing local police from cooperating with ICE, she now complains that ICE makes arrests without coordinating with local law enforcement.
Yeah, right. ICE is going to inform local officials and give them time to interfere with arrests of people here illegally.

Didn't Martha's Vineyard have the governor bring in the National Guard to remove 52 illegals that DeSantis shipped up to them?

As long as the odd illegal is doing their lawn or cleaning their house it’s fine. Just don’t ask them to house a bunch of jobless refugees that just swam across the Rio Grande or rafted over from Haiti. That’s Texas’s and Florida’s problem. Don’t be sending those people up here! But don’t take away my low pay cash under the table landscaper and housekeeper.

My brother lives on the island. He is about as right wing as you get. He doesn't mind the illegals. According to him they work and don't cause problems. Now get him going on the legal Brazilians there, and he goes off on all the problems, welfare abuse, and general laziness with them.

You have hit on the crux of the matter. If you want to come to America to embrace our values and work hard, that’s one thing. If you come to mooch off the economy others have already built that’s quite another. And even worse are the hordes of unmarried military age men who seem to have another agenda altogether: terrorism or takeover.

<sigh> a few years ago we put a 2 floor addition on the house. Each floor of the addition is bigger than that entire "house"

We have a very large indoor tomato farm in my town. Onsite housing for the mostly Mexican workers. You see them playing soccer on their field and walking to and from the gas station. Not many problems.

Back in the late 60's I worked at an evergreen and plant nursery while in HS. In the summer we had migrant worker that came in for the summer. There were bunkhouses for them. Only problem was getting some of them to show up on Saturday after payday. One guy mixed the soil and ran the Bobcat. One day he just disappeared which allowed me to become that person. I enjoyed that, except for feeding bales of peat moss into the blower the fed it up into the hopper. I'd come home black after that. We bought sand from the Indiana sand dunes and the Bobcat was used to move the sand into the belt that fed it up into the hopper. Underneath the hopper was a big mixer. You put X amount of sand, X amount of peat, a bag of chemicals and x amount of water and let it mix for a while then ope thr door and it would travle up a conveyor and be deposited on the trailer where the planting was taking place. Lots of fun.
