When I first bought the Tiger, it had electrical problems. I had two in flight alternator failures, and lost all power. I have a back up handheld radio to communicate though. I also had a battery that had an intermittent, internal short. It drove me and my mechanic nuts.

My point is, power, or Comm failure is not an emergency in VFR. Why would it cause this plane to go down,? Distraction?

And why continue on?  Put it on the ground and fix it there.

I’m guessing he lost power, was trying to make that field and maybe stalled while maneuvering or simply crashed trying to put it down.

He may have been trying to put it in this open area and ended up alongside that oblong blob in the middle. Maybe hit a power line like my old CFI but wasn’t as lucky. My CFI and his two kids survived.

This guy and his wife were productive members of society. Not that every life isn’t valuable but this is a real loss. Them AND their genetic line. All wiped out.

Mark and I flew around a lot with our kids. There but for the grace of God…
