Trump here sees very clearly what most of America did not, not even Reagan. But Zeihan does in this book:

From page 366:
Quote
Most people think of the Bretton Woods system as a sort of Pax Americana. The American Century, if you will. But that's simply not the case. The entire concept of the Order is that the United States disadvantages itself economically in order to purchase the loyalty of a global alliance. That is what globalization is. The past several decades haven't been an American Century. They're been an American sacrifice.

Which is over...

There you have it. The United States sacrificed so that the third world could be lifted out of poverty and become economic powerhouses themselves. We took hits to our industry, middle class, quality of products, and self sufficiency, just so the entire world could be brought into modern times through globalization, because very few other countries contain ALL the resources to do it by themselves.
