Quote
"Many of you were in elementary school when you learned the toughest lesson of all on 9/11," he said. "There are no walls big enough to stop people from anywhere, tens of thousands of miles away, who are determined to take their own lives while they target others."

I'm of the same generation as Kerry, and I'm sure listened to some of the same songs.

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one.

Hopefully in a few hundred or a few thousand years our offspring will look back on our current insanity and see it as the last, dying gasps of nationalism, much as we look back on tribalism and feudalism as stages that had to be gone through, then discarded.

No matter how closely I look, I don't see any borders...

What a stupid argument, John Kerry.  If there are no walls big enough to stop terrorists then lets build them!

Walls alone do not stop terrorists, they must be manned, policed, monitored and maintained.  Such walls need to be backed up by government policy that punishes violating the wall instead of rewarding those who go around, over, under or just over stay a visa.

Breaking into our country illegally is not 'an act of love' it is a criminal act by a foreigner.

Agreed.

If Kerry thinks the world is "borderless", then why doesn't he tell us what happens when an illegal alien is caught entering Mexico? This is just another attempt to push radical progressivism. I'm not surprised he'd say something like this.

Keep in mind, if Hillary becomes President, John Kerry will have a prominant position within the administration.

Keep that in mind.

Don't like that view? Here's an alternate view from space with personal property rights, nationalism and religion fully intact.

Are you saying we should give up personal property, our country and our religious beliefs in the name of preventing nuclear war?

Okay, now I get it, better to be controlled by Sharia and the Mexican drug cartels than by nukes.

Everyone who doesn't vote for Gary Johnson is a vote for a Hillary presidency.

No no, you see that's not how it works. A borderless world is for the common people, not the rich and powerful. Just like guns should be banned except for the private security that protects the rich and powerful. I've quoted it before and it's applicable here as well, but Willow has a great quote: "Socialism is for the people, not the socialists".

We can have a borderless world when every country is democratic and world poverty has been erased.  Maybe in a few thousand years.

The US competing in a borderless world is just another way for Democrats to hold onto power by forcing the middle class to compete with cheaper foreign workers and become poorer in the process.  The United States is a bubble in relative terms of the world economy.  This does not end well for American workers.

We know what happens when bubble pop.  In this case, it will mean that many people who have been upwardly mobile will suddenly begin competing against people who do everything for less.  I work in consulting today and we see this with firms like Infosys and Cognizant, two companies that get the majority of H-1B visas.  These guys undercut our prices to the point they are asking for an hourly rate less than our cost for college graduates.  Now never mind that they deliver bad service, that doesn't come around until later and a company can keep doing that for 10-20 years before the market catches on.  Never mind that H-1B laws state they must pay a competitive market rate to their employees, that would ruin their operating model.

Extend this out to everyone.  An Indian guy will take your job on the assembly line and do it for less.  Or if you're "lucky", he'll take your buddy's job and you'll take a pay cut to stay employed.  That is the economic result of a borderless world when you are an economic bubble.  In the US it will mean a massive jump in poverty families and a lowering average wage.  Once indexed for inflation, you should expect to see it decline even more and for that decline to encompass more and more people.

Just remember that it's Democrats that are pushing this on you.

John Kerry is a idiot.  This New World Order, One Global Government, Open Borders crap is their dream of the further consolidation of money and power.  Congress doesn't matter anymore, nor do votes as he wants foreign laws to matter here, especially when it comes to the private, legal ownership of firearms.

Of course they do. I've said it before and I'll repeat it because it's true. Andrew Wilkow's line is correct: "Socialism is for the people, not the socialists".

When liberals and progressives talk about gun control or (insert topic here), they mean that it's the American people that need these laws and regulations, not the wealthy and powerful. Because they're wealthy and powerful, they need the protection, the fences and locks.

I think in a few thousand years the world population will be so out of control that we'll have nothing BUT poverty and war.

Tim

That won't take thousands of years. That's the reality just at the end of this century if we keep going as we are.
