This is really amazing that we were able to pull this off. A bunch of guys with nerves of steel and slide rulers in their pockets.

It was amazing we (the US) pulled this off with old technology.
And it's sad we haven't been back. Too bad the next planned moon landing has more to do with "diversity" than science.

I grew up with NASA and I bought the "2001" vision as though it was a fait accompli. I went into flying airplanes and engineering because of the space program in the 60s. I remember, as a child, thinking that in 2001 I'd be too "old" to go into space and it bummed me out. Then budgets got cut, no one wanted to go outside LEO, and that was that. I still feel gipped. Maybe my grandkids will see a return of real off-planet spaceflight, but I doubt it.

Elon will make it happen.

Lots of hopes and dreams of all the wonderful space stuff that would be happening as I grew up. I may live to see actual commercial space trips for civilians, colonies on the moon, and maybe one on Mars. But I'm disappointed that I'm now too old to go into space. I guess if I was rich enough or connected enough I could go, but that's not happening.

I gave it up when I had babies. No way I was going to risk being a Christa McAuliff.
