I don’t get all the Jew hate. Okay, I do get the Muslim Jew hate. They hate everybody that isn’t Muslim, especially the Jews. But what’s with the new Jew hate from MAGA people? And Democrats FFS. But then the young Democrats are in many ways the exact opposite of legacy Democrats so okay. They’re bat shit insane anyway: Men can have babies, gays for Palestine and all. And of course they’re going to hate the ethnic group that brought a hell of a lot of technological progress to the world (because they hate civilization) not to mention movies. Hollywood is all about being leftists yet Jews were responsible for practically all of it. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. But we don’t expect logic out of leftists and certainly not gratitude so that’s not surprising.
But the right?
I guess here’s the idea: MAGA is populism, America first, so quit sending money to Israel. Therefore hate Jews. Sorry, it comes across that way, I don’t buy “I don’t hate Jews I just don’t want my tax money supporting Israel and also they’re committing war crimes in Gaza.” Well if you don’t support what they’re doing in Gaza you apparently don’t mind leaving Hamas intact to commit another October 7 again.
And in case nobody sees the obvious, all your shit comes from all kinds of places all around the planet. On ships. Which go through shipping lanes. Of which the MidEast is major. The U.S. doesn’t support Israel because we have any special love for it or for Jews. We support it for very important strategic purposes, full stop.
Without the powerful ally Israel represents right there it would be much more difficult to protect those lanes. Piracy is still a thing you know. Terrorism is a thing. And if you think the Islamic terrorists would not attack ships if Israel were gone you know nothing about Islam.
I’m all about America first but part of that is recognizing that we are not currently in a position to be completely isolationist. We have to be pragmatic and choosy.

Intercept illegal oil tankers? Yes. The U.S. through a complex set of internationally understood practices concerning the high seas is the default authority thereon and these tankers are evading proper procedures for the purpose of getting around sanctions which interferes with the strategic purposes of those sanctions and hence an economic and national security threat to multiple countries.
Bottom line, like it or not we are globally intertwined and we, the United States, are THE GLUE holding together the entire fucking world economy. Food. Energy. Fertilizer. Heavy equipment. Pharmaceuticals. Textiles. Widgets. Gadgets. EVERYTHING. There is very little, zero really, of anything in your life that doesn’t have some component sourced from some other part of the globe, usually many components from multiple parts of the planet.
So this naive MAGA talk of bringing everything home and returning to the days of self sufficiency, and not understanding the importance of Israel, really needs to be tempered with some realism. Yes it’s a direction we need to start thinking about. If we don’t it will eventually be forced upon us as nations start to collapse and sourcing raw materials and intermediate components becomes problematic. Trump is very prescient making this a thing. But it can’t happen overnight. People tend to grab hold of an idea and jump to the extreme without understanding the nuance and complexity, and it seems most of us really don’t grasp at all how dependent we’ve become on the global trade web.
The Jew hate? I kinda thought we all got past that after Hitler and the Holocaust. Maybe it’s some sort of subconscious resentment because people sense the pivotal role Jews have played in building our civilization and helping protect the subsequent globalization. But we sure do love the prolific food supply and cheap crap.
